Re: Clarify Understanding on the Renewal of Migrant Work Permits for Migrants from Burma (Correction and Addition)

To: Employment Offices in all Provinces in Thailand, Directors of Employment Offices in Bangkok Regions 1-10

I write this letter to ensure that the nationality verification process (NV) for migrant workers from Burma is undertaken and completed in accordance with its goals. The Employment Office hereby revokes the letter of the Office of the Aliens Workers Management Committee (Ref: Very Urgent Ror Ngor 0307/15312) issued on the 12th February 2010. This letter was in relation to clarifying understanding on the filling in of NV forms and the extension of work permits for migrants from Burma. The letter asked for the joining hands together of employment offices in all provinces in Thailand (EOT) and employment offices in Bangkok Regions 1-10 (EOB). The following should now apply however:

1. In the case that employers/establishments and alien workers are not able to complete the NV form in accordance with the timeline provided (28th February 2010), EOTs and EOBs should ensure that the attached official document is filled in and presented at the same time as extension for work permit is requested (using form Kor Tor 13). A copy of these documents should be provided to all employers/establishments and alien workers so they can keep it with them;

2. In the case where employers/establishments and alien workers have already submitted the completed NV form to EOTs and EOBs, officials should request a copy of this form at the same time as extension for work permit is requested (using Kor Tor 13);

3. If employers/establishments and migrant workers do not then submit the completed NV form by 31st March 2010, the Kor Tor 13 extension of work permit form should be revoked and officials should inform the Employment Department;

4. At the same time as extension of work permit is requested, the receipt for payment of health inspection and health insurance should also be submitted.
