Job Title:    Conservation Project Mananger

Salary:        Starting from30,000. Baht
       
Start Date:    1stSeptember 2014

We are seeking qualified candidate for the position of Conseravation Project Manager to plan, coordinate and manage all projects related functions of Projects Abroad Thailand Conservation. The nature of the position entails frequent, timely and effective communication with local project partners, volunteers and overseas offices. The main objective of this position is to manage the assigned project area thereby ensuring that volunteers are matched appropriately with placement, activities for volunteers are clearly worked out, volunteers understand their roles and responsibilities, work with placements to fine tune structure of work being done by volunteers and ensure project quality. Our fundamental mission is to provide support to critical areas and promote a cultural exchange that will benefit both our volunteers and the communities in which they work. The job is busy and can be physically demanding so you should be prepared to work flexible hours and be willing to travel within and outside Thailand when necessary.


The main roles include:

•    Based in Conservation Project, Ao-Nammao, Krabi
•    Working hours Monday-Friday from 9.00-17.00 ( with flexible Days/hours)
•    Works collaboratively with volunteers from all over the world.
•    Networking with volunteers in-country and organisation of volunteer during their stay
•    Manage the day-to-day operations of the conservation projects and provides the volunteers with support
•    Manage effective communication between volunteers and the local office, helping to increase the worthwhileness of our projects for our local partners and the volunteers.
•    Prepare and implement montly management plans based on ecological surveys and scientific observation
•    Organise and supervise trainings and workshops for volunteers
•    Maintaining effective records using IT database systems
•    Manage monthly budget and expenses for project related activities
•    Acting as “Projects Abroad, Thailand” representative in the area.
•    In collaboration with the country director / operations manager, improving and developing projects
•    Ensure that accurate and up-to-date information on projects, placements and volunteers are uploaded in TAGOS
•    Maintain up-to-date listings of all relevant stakeholders







Qualification

Education and/or Experience
•    Bachelors  Degree or Masters Degree in Science or in a relevant field or equivalent from a recognized institute with at least 2 years experience in Diving (degree in Marine Biology would be a strong asset)
•    A professional level dive qualification is essential to either PADI Divemaster or other equivalents will be considered.
•    At leaset one year of experience leading, developing, and managing progarmmes.

Knowledge
•    Proven ability to formulate and implement operational plans
•    Experience working with culturally diverse population
•    Proven ability to plan and execute projects for a culturally diverse group as well as community interventions and partnership building among stakeholders at all levels
•    Experience in project development and management
•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet

Skills and Abilities
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Ability to work under pressure and overtime, meet short deadlines and multi-task
•    Team building
•    Decision making

•    Act as the main coordinator for area responsibility in your regions (e.g. Teaching, Care, Animal Care, Sports, Community, Conservation etc.
•    Coordinate regular workshops to provide the knowledge of Marine Coastal Environmentalfor Volunteers
•    Ensure all Volunteers have a set timetable/schedule
•    Provide weekly verbal report to the manager
•    Provide manager information regarding dive equipment maintenance.
•    Update all land base activities for conservation project
•    Organize and update the Marine coastal land base activity monthly.
•    Create/organize term planning with the local government, communities
•    Organize all study material for potential volunteers prior to their arrival.
•    Set up the marine coastal environmental project into solid structure.
•    Organize project workshop training.
•    Assign work.
•    Acting as “Projects Abroad, Thailand” representative in the area.
•    Be the emergency contact for conservation volunteers.
•    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
•    Ensure that volunteer’s notes are entered into database on daily basis or when internet is available.
•    Once problems occur do a primarily resolution and discuss with the Conservation Project Manager. 
•    Develop the projects into a solid structure.
•    Corroborate with research diver supervisor to organize the work program for volunteers.
•    Respond to Volunteer problems and complaints as related to their Placements. Take action to resolve any issues that may arise with Volunteers and escalate to Country Director where necessary
•    Manage emergencies at the project with conservation project manager.
•    Manage effective communication between volunteers and the local office, helping to increase the worthwhileness of our projects for our local partners and the volunteers.
•    Ensure all notes and project details related to project are uploaded into TAGOS in a timely fashion
•    Manage a portfolio of projects that are worthwhile.
•    Assist the Information Manager in gathering volunteer stories, photos and videos when requested.
•    Any other duties assigned and agreed with the Country Director or Conservation Project Manager
•    Be available 24 hours, including weekends and holidays during an emergency rota.
Conservation Management:
•    Mainly focus on set up the marine coastal environmental and land base activity for the volunteer
•    Ensure data collected in the field in as accurate as possible.
•    Ensure data collected is inputted and stored digitally.
•    Corroborate the land base activity to link with the marine conservation activity.
•    Contribute to report writing when needed.
•    Contribute to the analysis of data.
•    Ensure every volunteer understands the aims of the project and the background of the conservation work.
