Effective with the release of this position announcement, Winrock International is seeking applicants for the position of Communications Coordinator to be based in Bangkok, Thailand as part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) program. The responsibilities, duties, and qualifications are described below.

GENERAL:

By linking local individuals and communities with new ideas and technology, Winrock is increasing long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management to benefit the poor and disadvantaged of the world.

The USAID Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) Program, a five-year cooperative agreement, is funded by the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia. LEAF is being implemented by Winrock International (Winrock), in partnership with SNV – Netherlands Development Organization, Climate Focus and The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC). The USAID LEAF program began in

2011 and will continue until the beginning of 2016.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Communications Coordinator works with the Communications Advisor, Chief of Party (COP), the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), technical staff, country teams, and partners to support project communications. S/he applies innovative tools and strategies to ensure coordination between the main USAID LEAF office in Bangkok, USAID LEAF consortium members, field offices in five USAID LEAF countries, USAID, and Winrock headquarters. S/he will assist in the development, production and launch of the various communications materials that USAID LEAF will use to highlight its work for the next 15 months, until the project closes in January 2016.

The Communications Coordinator will also work with the Communications Advisor to manage the project’s website; create social media content for USAID and USAID LEAF channels; liaise with vendors and service providers on creation of communications products and generate original submissions to the USAID weekly newsletters, other partner newsletters, and USAID LEAF produced reports. The Communications Coordinator will maintain, along with the Communications Advisor, a network of external organizations, consultants and platforms for dissemination of communications materials and updates.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Maintain regular contact with USAID LEAF country teams and technical staff to identify key success stories for input, drafting and review by the Communications Advisor and other relevant staff;

•    Assist the Communications Advisor to develop external communications including, but not limited to, press releases, success stories, reports, and other material that communicates USAID LEAF’s successes and lessons learned;

•    Maintain USAID LEAF’s social media presence, including Twitter and Facebook;

•    Maintain and refine an internal monthly events calendar, which is updated regularly and circulated amongst USAID LEAF partners and shared with USAID;

•    Assist the Communications Advisor to produce and disseminate USAID LEAF’s two quarterly newsletters;

•    Assist with updating and maintaining the USAID LEAF communications work plan;

•    Coordinate updates and maintenance of the USAID LEAF website, including working with the USAID LEAF IT service provider to ensure the site’s integrity and upgrade its look, design and functionality;

•    Coordinate and document weekly core management conference calls, taking notes and following up on outstanding issues including the monthly calendar;

•     Disseminate stories collaborating with and using donor and consortium partner channels;

•     Support the Communications Advisor and project team in the timely preparation and submission of reports and other deliverables;

•     Manage the production, launch and archiving of photographs, graphics and visuals, including film and motion graphics

•     Coordinate materials printing with the USAID LEAF team and external vendors where appropriate;

and

•     Complete other tasks as assigned by the USAID LEAF management team.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

The annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits include life, disability and medical insurance, retirement, and other normal Winrock benefits.  No living allowances or relocation allowances will be provided with this position.
