Pact Thailand is seeking a full-time Community of Practice Coordinator to manage the network of multi-stakeholder participants in the Mekong Partnership for the Environment (MPE) project’s Community of Practice (COP). The MPE COP will consist of a digital platform and interactive meetings to provide space for constructive conversations on regional environmental policy and practice, as well as socially responsible investment, by relevant regional stakeholders from civil society organizations, government agencies, and private sector companies.
The ideal candidate is expected to collaborate closely with MPE’s Technical and the Media and Communication Teams, as well as the Monitoring and Evaluation Team, in strategizing, designing, and implementing innovative activities that will promote an active MPE COP. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and within teams to facilitate and initiate active dialogue with MPE COP members. S/he should have active experience with knowledge management and online tools to conduct outreach and engage partners virtually, as well as capture best practices to benefit the MPE COP. In addition, the individual should have experience and familiarity with MPE’s partner countries—Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
MPE’s goal is to advance informed dialogues between government, civil society organizations, and private sector stakeholders in Lower Mekong partner countries on the anticipated social and environmental costs and benefits of large-scale regional development projects.
Limited regional travel to Lower Mekong countries may be required for this position. This is a local hire position based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Develop and maintain a strategy for COP management and participant engagement.
Develop tools and activities to actively engage MPE COP members and partners, such as conducting thematic surveys, initiating online discussion threads, designing workshops/events/webinars, etc.
Identify, initiate, and moderate strategic partnerships within MPE COP members and potential partners, in coordination with the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party.
Manage the MPE COP online platform and collaborate with the MPE Communications and Knowledge Management Officer for maintaining MPE COP’s social media presence, by drafting queries, moderating e-discussions, tweets, etc.
Collect, collate, and analyze best practices/recommendations shared within the COP platforms (online and in-person) and feed into online knowledge management platform for distribution.
Coordinate logistics and contribute to the development of in-person events and workshop content, specifically leading efforts for the yearly regional MPE COP meeting.
Lead the production of COP summary reports for dissemination to COP members, such as, but not limited to, quarterly and annual reporting, weekly or monthly updates, success stories, etc.
Contribute to the development of information tools such as articles, blogs, etc.
Attend relevant events, meetings, and workshops as required.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND ABILITITIES
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, international development, environmental studies, knowledge management, or communications required. Master’s degree is a plus.
A minimum of five years of experience supporting environmental, governance, knowledge management and/or strategic communication programs required.
Experience with online tools and web-platforms for knowledge management and comfort using social media outlets required.
Demonstrated experience with civil society organizations, government, and/or private sector in mixed learning events.
Demonstrated understanding of social and environmental issues surrounding the development of large infrastructure in the Lower Mekong region preferred.
Innovative and creative self-starter.
Excellent interpersonal, writing and editing skills.
Organised and detail oriented and with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and a variety of tasks simultaneously.
High level of proficiency in verbal and written English and Thai required. Additional language skills in Cambodian, Vietnamese, Burmese and/or Khmer are a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
