Sustainable Fisheries Experts / Team Leader
Chemonics International, a Washington D.C.– based international development firm, seeks candidates for potential USAID-funded Sustainable Fisheries program. Based in Bangkok, the potential program’s goal is to increase the ability of regional fisheries organizations to conserve marine biodiversity and combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing in the Asia-Pacific region. This proposed five year activity is to improve food security and fisheries management standards through integration of conservation and fisheries management enhancing certification and traceability of key marine species in at least eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region by 2020.
Professional experience in fisheries industry, biodiversity/marine conservation management and/or food security; 10 plus years for senior level; 5-7 years for mid-level professional
Advanced degree in science or management field
Experience with fisheries catch certification, documentation and traceability (CDT) tools and/or combating IUU fishing and supply chain contexts, Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) model familiarity
Understanding/knowledge of Southeast Asia’s public and private fisheries stakeholders
Regional experience/familiarity with ASEAN SEAFDEC ASSP, CTI-CFF, and/or RPOA-IUU fisheries organizations.
Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional written and oral language skills; fluency in English and Thai
