POST TITLE: Communications Specialist
CATEGORY:ICSC-10 equivalent to NOC under Fixed Term Appointment
DUTY STATION:Bangkok, Thailand
DURATION:One year initially
ORGANIZATION UNIT:UNFPA Thailand Country Office
The post is located in the UNFPA Thailand Country Office in Bangkok. The incumbent will report to the UNFPA Representative.
The incumbent will support the design, planning and management of UNFPA country presence including regional outreach in relation to communications for policy work, fund raising and partnerships.
Major Activities/Expected Results
Under the supervision of the Representative, the incumbent will:
Scan national and international media for events of relevant to the Country Office (CO);
Ensure exposure of UNFPA mandate and work in national media;
Maintain and update CO public information sites (social media, websites, newsletters, etc.);
Support communications need of programme staff;
Support partnerships and initiatives geared toward resource mobilization;
Undertake other official tasks as required.

Institutes, universities, the private sector and voluntary organizations

National Programme Officers and Programme Associates Regional Advisers
HQ/Regional Communications Specialists / Advisers
Nationality: Only Thai Nationals may apply
Education: An Advanced Degree (Master Degree) in Communications, Social Sciences or related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
At least 5 years of progressive working experience in media/communications
Excellent writing and communication skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Experience working with a broad array of institutional and civil society partners, academia et.al
Excellent understanding of the use of social media
Embracing cultural diversity/change
Developing and applying professional expertise/business acumen
Communication for impact
Providing strategic focus, engaging internal/external partners and stakeholders, leading, developing and empowering people
Reputation to respect confidentiality, sound judgment, strong interest in development work, especially the mission of the United Nations Population Fund and dedication to the principles of the United Nations.
Languages: Fluency in Thai and good working knowledge of English.
