Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a Thai-registered foundation located in Chiang Mai city, with a branch office in Bangkok (Kingdom of Thailand). BDF supports over 1,000 children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Baan Dek Foundation's mission is to provide access to education, health, and safety for all vulnerable children. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek supports children and families to become self-sustainable and obtain opportunities for a better future.


Baan Dek Foundation is looking for a professional and dedicated local Social Worker / Social Advisor who is committed to helping vulnerable children from marginalized communities in Bangkok.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Type of Contract:                 Full-time position, 1-year contract (renewable)

Location:                                 Based in Bangkok, Thailand

Working hours:                              Monday to Friday (Working full-time, between the hours of 9am-8pm, with flexible schedule) + occasionally on weekends

Salary:                                    Starting 22,000 THB, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include transportation & phone allowance, etc.

Starting date:                                 July 1,2019 – ASAP

 

Responsibilities include (but are not restricted to):

 

SOCIAL WORK DIRECTLY WITH BENEFICIARIES

  1. Conduct individual case management (involving a team of 5 social workers) and provide community support in the field
  2. Identification of beneficiaries through regular outreach and assessment of individual and community needs
  3. Provide appropriate social counselling and ensuring regular and effective follow-up by implementation of a support plan through social work activities
  4. Promotion of child protection (i.e. education, safety, healthcare, nutrition, etc.) in every area of work: in the community, at schools, in outreach meetings, etc.
  5. Design and implementation of activities and tools (such as life skills) in order to support children’s access to health, education, and safety, improve the beneficiaries' living situation, and facilitate their future autonomy
  6. Identify and develop partnerships with relevant local partners (schools, medical centers, social services, etc.) which support the mission of Baan Dek Foundation

 

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND COORDINATION

  1. Preparation and coordination of field activities (life skills)
  2. Support the in the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects, ensuring alignment with the mission objectives of Baan Dek Foundation, and targeting the most vulnerable children and families in Thailand
  3. Conduct research and develop collections of data on life skills and topics related to Baan Dek activities
  4. Support developing and implementing the monitoring system for activities; participate in collecting quantitative and qualitative data for monitoring programs
  5. Contribute to developing a network and relations with local partners that are relevant to the project in consideration

 

MONITORING and REPORTING

  1. Support the organization and monitoring of data for reporting and communication within the team regarding beneficiary information,
  2. Monitoring and reporting on social work activities;
  3. Reporting on every follow-up action held with the beneficiaries (home visits, activities, meetings, phone calls, …) and organizing the reports in the beneficiaries' files;
  4. Support in terms of administrative/legal matters related to the project; and
  5. Assistance with any tasks per the needs of the organization and the management team

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nationality:Any nationality (Thai or South East Asia nationals preferred)
  • Age: Preferably graduates with experience in the field of project coordination / social work / educational activity coordination / early childhood development.
  • Education & Experience:Degree or experience in relevant field (social work, special education, health, psychology,). Experience in work as a Social worker / Project coordinator / teacher / animator with children, mothers and babies / toddlers considered as an asset.
  • Language skills:Fluent Thai (spoken and written) and English proficient speaking and writing skills. Burmese, Tha-Yai and/or Khmer (spoken and written) considered as important assets.
  • Other skills/interests: committed to social work/child welfare, dedication for non-profit work, communication and human relations skills, teamwork ability, flexibility on working hours, tolerance & human values, highly motivated, positive energy & spirit, ability to work autonomously, ability to understand family situation and conduct assessments.
