ActionAid is an international organisation, working with over 25 million people in more than 40 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid Thailand is part of the ActionAid International Federation and has been working with people and communities in the country for a decade addressing issues related to poverty and human rights.

 

Project Manager (North Project)

Location: Chiang Rai, Thailand

 

The Position:

The main role of the position involves the management of the Project -“Empowerment is a Process: the De-marginalisation of Hill Communities in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai Provinces” at provincial district and village levels, ensuring effective implementation and that it is in line with the original proposal and donor requirements. The Project Manager will work closely with the partners in the field and will report to AAT office in Bangkok.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Fundraising

Maintain and update donor communications on project status and or changes

Represent and promote the Project nationally

Link Project with new and related initiatives to promote new funding sources

 

Project Implementation

Develop strategic project implementation plan together with partner organizations and network, and provide coordination and follow-up support

Extend full support to partner organizations in implementing the project in accordance with contractual requirements

Manage and resolve any obstacle to deliverables by linking the project and partners to appropriate support, even outside the project specifications, e.g. ActionAid Thailand’s mission objectives, impact assessment, etc.

Ensure all programme activities are sensitive to and responsive to changes in the political, social, and economic environments in the project area

 

Partnership Management

Support in building partnership

Maintain regular contact with partners in order to seek feedback from them for continuous improvement of the organisation

Ensure that relationship with partner is in accordance with contract requirement and that the principles of partnership and accountability are maintained throughout project implementation

As a service to partner, ensure that there is no duplication of activities through coordination with other local agencies

Coordinate with local government offices and other agencies

 

Monitoring and Evaluation and Reporting

Coordinate to design, establish and manage appropriate project monitoring and evaluation framework

Ensure maintenance of Management Information Systems related to documentation of the project, including timely delivery of donor financial and narrative reports

Make reports in related fields to AAI, donors and government

Maintain all project documentation and archives

 

Qualification & Experience

Bachelor Degree in social sciences, development studies or management

At least 5 years relevant experience in a multi-culture working environment, preferably an NGO with management experience

Experience in designing, setting up and coordinating the monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment systems and processes of a project

Proven experience in working with local partners, community development and engaging with local authorities

Thorough understanding of development and human right issues in the country

Sound knowledge in the political, social, economic and historic environment in which ActionAid's poverty alleviation programmes are operating at both national and community levels

Understanding of the project cycle management

Knowledge of the realities of development partners, donor institutions, government agencies and the not-for-profit sector in the country

Good understanding of normal practice in non-profit organizations 

Good at spoken and written English communication
