TEFL Specialist Teacher Collaboration and Community Service Project (Re-Advertisement)
The Peace Corps program in Thailand places American Volunteers in two-year assignments in villages and towns across the country. Peace Corps is seeking qualified applicants for the contracted position of TEFL Specialist (TS) to support education programming. The TS will work collaboratively with the Program Manager and training staff to provide technical support to the Teacher Collaboration and Community Service (TCCS) project as well as provide support to Trainees, Volunteers and Thai community partners.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist program staff with program development and management, site identification visits for potential sites and site visits and observations of serving Volunteer in the TCCS project
Work with the full Programming and Training team to support the annual Pre-Service training through facilitating a pre-departure online course, facilitating in-person TEFL sessions, developing support materials, and helping organize and observe practicum activities in the local classrooms
Support Volunteers and counterparts in the field by providing technical support and cross cultural advice both through in person site visits and through phone and email
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English or TEFL
A minimum of 2 years experience teaching English; experience teaching teachers of English preferred
Fluency in written and spoken Thai and English; strong written English skills
Familiarity with the Ministry of Education, and Thai education system and English education
Background and experience in organizational development and capacity-building of non-governmental and other community-based organizations, youth development and program management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable and willing to work in a collaborative team environment
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills; comfortable leading sessions for big groups
Ability to train adults, assess competency of learners and provide constructive feedback
Strong computer, coordination and organizational skills; excellent cross-cultural communication skills
Flexible, motivated and self-directed; willingness to travel extensively throughout the country
Prior experience working with Americans in an international organization and/or living abroad preferred
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time, all over Thailand and be willing to relocate to an upcountry location for 4 months every year for Peace Corps Volunteers’ Pre-Service Training
