Senior Assistant of Grant Officer

Job title:             Senior Assistant of Grant Officer

Location:            Mae Ramat, TAK Province

Probation:         SMRU can terminate employment at 3 months if performance inadequate

Report to:          Administrator/COO, Grant Officer (Technical)

The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and is part of the Mahidol-Oxford Research Unit (MORU) supported by the Wellcome, UK. The main objective of SMRU is to provide quality health care to the marginalised populations living on both sides of the Thai-Myanmar border in Tak province. This is achieved by the dual activities of research and humanitarian services, with an emphasis on maternal-child health and infectious diseases.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Verify and entry data for Grant Manager to prepare grants-related reports
  • Ensure timely internal review and clearance of all financial documentation and reporting associated with grants.
  • Maintain and update all hard- and soft-copy of grant files
  • Ensure appropriate budget allocated and grant planning to ensure the grant program technical objectives are clearly defined and estimated timelines are appropriate
  • Assign suitable grant to each expenditure.
  • Assist Grant Manager for budget analysis as needed
  • Monitor budget utilization and follow up budget lines in each grant in monthly basis.
  • Provide guidance and advice to grantees and program staff on compliance issues and questions
  • Ensure, interpret and simplify donor/internal grants terms and conditions and share with program directors.

Qualification:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related subjects.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant scope of work.
  • Honest
  • Fast learner
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to use Microsoft office and accounting programs
  • Mature, polite and be a good team player
  • Good troubleshooting skills with the proven ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to work with a multi or cross-cultural team.
    • Good command of written and verbal English and Thai
    • Burmese and Karen language skills would be an asset
    • Understanding of the situation along the Thailand-Burma border and in- side Burma
