THAILAND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SAVE THE CHILDREN THAILAND FOUNDATION
BACKGROUND
Save the Children is the world’s first, and largest, independent children’s rights organisation. Our founder drafted the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1923, and we’ve worked to uphold it ever since. Today, we are working in over 100 countries worldwide to build a world where every child can thrive, grow up healthy, educated and safe, and look forward to a future full of promise.
Our ambition for 2030 is to create a world in which all children:
• Survive: No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
• Learn: All children learn from a quality basic education
• Are Protected: Violence against children is no longer tolerated.
To deliver on these 2030 breakthroughs for children, Save the Children operates in three-year strategy cycles, and has developed an ambitious strategy for 2022-24, focused on transforming and amplifying impact for and with children.
Since 2021, the climate crisis has worsened, the conflict in Ukraine has displaced millions of people and children, and the ripple effects and aftermath of the pandemic have resulted in a cost of living crisis and worsening global hunger crisis at an unprecedented scale. Globally, 426 million children live in conflict zones in constant fear, their childhoods stolen. We are witnessing the worst child rights crisis in decades. The needs are greater than ever before and so is the urgency for us to scale our impact.
Globally, we have over two million supporters worldwide and raised more than 2 billion dollars in 2021 to reach more children than ever before, in times of humanitarian crisis and through programs in health, nutrition, education, protection and child rights.
We are comprised of 30 independent member organizations with program operations in over 120 countries who work together to campaign for better policies, build partnerships with communities, civil society, governments and the private sector and run world-class programs to save children’s lives and to give them a brighter future.
We are looking for a visionary and transformational executive to join Save the Children Thailand Foundation as the Executive Director (ED) and lead the organization in the execution of our ambitious strategy at a critical point in time for children.
Save the Children has been working in Thailand since 1979, and registered as a Thai foundation in 2021. At present, SCT’s portfolio is approximately USD $5 million consisting of both institutional and corporate donors as well as Member supported programs in the areas of: Education, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Child Poverty (livelihoods) and Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate Change Adaptation and Humanitarian Response. We have approximately 55 staff working in three offices in Bangkok, Pattani and Mae Sod.
The primary challenges for the new Executive Director is to work with the Board, SCI and SC Members to grow Save the Children Thailand Foundation to become the leading independent children’s rights organization in Thailand with a specific focus on: building a high performing organization, successfully mobilizing international/domestic resources; influencing the Royal Thai government on child rights; and extending quality support services to the SCI Sub-Regional Hub (and its associated programs) based in Thailand .
