Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
1.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Under the overall supervision of the Program Manager, Protection, and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer, based in Mae Sot, Tak province, the Project Clerk will be responsible for supporting the implementation of migrant assistance and counter-trafficking activities in Mae Sot district and surrounding area in Tak province.
2.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support the day-to-day implementation of activities under the Protection Unit;
- Support liaison with migrant communities at early stage to identify their needs and supports under IOM’s vulnerability criteria and communicate within the Unit for further planning of tailored services;
- Support the preparation and delivery of migrant assistance activities and case visits in Mae Sot and surrounding area in Tak province;
- Support outreach activities with target migrants such as a safe migration and anti-trafficking in persons awareness raising outreach;
- Provide general/clerical support services for workshops or meetings with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders;
- Provide general/clerical support services to support vulnerable migrants during the screening, identification, and follow-up assistance provided by IOM and its partners including the Royal Thai Government and civil society organizations;
- Provide interpretation and translation services to IOM project staff, governmental and non-governmental counterparts;
- Support the Program’s data collection efforts as various project sites, as well as the data inputs for IOM’s MIMOSA database;
- Draft minutes of meetings, activity reports, and monthly progress updates to the supervisor, as needed;
- Attend meetings and trainings as relevant to main duties;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
3.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma with at least three years of relevant experience; or
- University degree in law, international relations, political science, social science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least one year of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, including migrants, refugees, and children considered an asset;
- Experience in interpretation or translation work is an asset;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated capacity to respect diversity is considered advantaged.
SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain trust and good working relationship with counterparts;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Strong interest in the issue of labour migration and anti-trafficking in persons;
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect diversity;
- Team-work oriented but with a capacity to work independently;
- Good writing and communication skills.
4.LANGUAGES
- Fluency in Thai and Burmese (oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of English or other languages spoken by minority groups from Myanmar
