1. Background
Although WWF Thailand is one of non-governmental organization which is expertise in wildlife conservation, it has to have good governance as well. Especially, finance system will be the key success of WWF Thailand to clarify itself and make finance system reliable in public. The general accountant has responsibility to accounting in the foundation stage and manages change when occurred.
2. Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for AP payables such as review payments, attending to advance requests and acquittals, preparing checks, going to banks, updating bank mandate and maintaining petty cash reimbursement systems.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of data input to Oracle, all supporting documents are submitted, review of vouchers, invoices, receipts, documents to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assist with project accounting work, including ensuring the compliance to donor requirements of the projects, all expenses clearance of the projects, including timesheets, as well as ensure timely reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. Occasional travel to the field required.
- Responsible for submission of monthly withholding tax, including with-holding tax reconciliation for WWF Thailand and WWF Foundation.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and journal vouchers for calling of funds- receipts.
- Review ledgers, statement and accounts to identify errors and take corrective actions as needed.
- Responsible for annual South Pole Carbon emissions input and CO2 certificate issuance.
- Support both internal and external audits.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as and when assigned.
3. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management, business administration, or in relevant fields.
- 3-5 years as General or AP accountant or Finance and accounting officer
- Knowledge of Thailand finance and accounting system, standards, practices and taxation.
- Working knowledge in a non-profit organization.
- Experienced in using Accounting Software: Oracle.
- Good interpersonal skill, composed and calm without any issues with other staff.
- Accuracy and detail-oriented with sense of urgency.
4. Working Relationships
Internal
- Ensure integrity of data input. Monitor, advise staffs to ensure that all expense claim comply with WWF policies and procedures as well as donor policies and procedures
- Ensuring that WWF Thailand staff are aware of their burn rate on spending, remaining balance and flag any issues to be resolved in time by generating monthly reports on their spending
External
- Commercial Banks – Process bank transfer and attend to all other banking matters.
- Supplier or Vendor – Coordinate document support for payment.
- Donors and/or Auditors – Coordinate and communicate with donors and responding to donor requests for reporting and audit. Coordinate with audit teams to ensure closure of accounts.
