POSITION TITLE: Temporary Communications Specialist
Location: Bangkok
PROJECT: USDA Thailand Regional Agriculture Innovation Network (RAIN)
Reports to: Outreach Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Winrock International is urgently seeking candidates for a Temporary Communications Specialist to provide support for communications work under USDA Thailand Regional Agriculture Innovation Network (RAIN) project based in Bangkok, Thailand. The project will source, validate, and disseminate climate-smart innovations in rice, cassava, and horticulture in Thailand.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary priorities
- Support in preparation and production of Communications materials for four events planned for November 2023 – February 2024;
- Ensure all required communications materials, including banners, presentations, infosheets, etc., are approved and produced for the events.
- Coordinate infographic video to effectively communicate key findings of the project baseline

- Support in finalization of communication material templates to meet donor’s comments
- Coordinate production and inventory of project souvenirs for the period November - April
- Work with project staff to collect and maintain a photo and video library for the project.
- Maintain project equipment such as camera, field recorder, etc.
Ongoing/ support roles
- Coordinate and communicate on a regular basis with Winrock’s Home Office communications staff.
- Ensure women and marginalized groups are beneficiaries of the project and considered when developing outreach and communication strategies and activities.
- Maintain and update the project Communications Plan as needed and ensure compliance with the Communications Plan and Marking Plan.
- Collaborate with RAIN team and/or external vendors to prepare and coordinate production for project materials such as factsheets, briefs, and update as required.
- With technical team, contribute to knowledge sharing and learning dissemination messages to share with partners and stakeholders. Edit and review staff communications and reports as required.
- Participate in required field visits to document project activities and results, and train staff and partners. This includes developing a photo and video database to accompany articles and document project success.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQURIEMENTS:
Education: B.S. or equivalent university degree in Communications or related field.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- At least one year of experience in communications for development project(s)
- Demonstrable experience in developing and designing content for print and online distribution through social media and other platforms.
- Have a keen eye for visual designs and skill for story-telling through a variety of communication products such as video, narratives, photo-journalism
- Event photography and management of media files
- Excellent computer software skills in MS Excel and Word required. Preference will be given for experience in and understanding of content production tools such as Adobe Premier, InDesign, Canva, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with fluency in English required
