As an international cooperation enterprise with worldwide operations, the German government-owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH operates on behalf of German ministries, the governments of other countries and international clients to provide tailor-made, cost-efficient and effective services for sustainable development. With over 60 years of experience implementing projects in Thailand, GIZ provides policy and technical advice on various topics and sectors relating to Thailand’s reform process, including: climate policy, sustainable economic development, and sustainable agriculture.

We are looking for a Field Staff to support the project “Thai Rice Landscape IPM”.  One of major problems of rice farmers in North of Thailand is a misuse of agrochemicals due to limited technical knowledge, capacity, illegal products and a lack of incentives for implementing sustainable rice/agriculture production systems. This has negative effects on both farm and landscape level. In addition, Northern Thailand has several national parks and mountains, which are the main water sources of the Thai population. To protect the water source / watersheds, biodiversity, and ecological system a sustainable landscape approach is needed and a sustainable and responsible IPM is a key success factor in this. The IPM Thai Rice Landscape activities are significantly implemented in partnership with Croplife International.

The separated financed project forms part of the Inclusive Sustainable Rice Landscape Thailand (ISRL) Project, (Cofinance by Private Sector contribution), which has received funding from GEF-7 through UNEP. It is a collaborative project with strong partnership with value chain companies and the government of Thailand. The project, (started in January 2023, and its objective is to “Transform the Thai rice value chain for environmental sustainability by upscaling the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Standard through an Integrated Landscape Management approach.”  This is one of a portfolio of landscape approach projects funded by GEF and with whom GIZ would share successes from this Croplife International funded project.
