SEI Asia, a centre of Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) based in Bangkok, has a diverse team of multinational experts who integrate scientific research with participatory approaches to co-develop and share knowledge, build partnerships and influence policy for resilient development. SEI Asia’s work focuses on gender and social equity, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, water insecurity and integrated water resources management, transitional agriculture, renewable energy and urbanization.
SEI Asia is an affiliate of Chulalongkorn University (CU), Thailand. SEI and CU have an agreement to foster innovative scientific research combined with effective policy engagement on development and environmental challenges in Asia. The key areas of collaboration are intellectual engagement for joint research applications and fund mobilization, lectures and seminars for CU students, post-graduate supervision and examination, and CU–SEI employee links.
The Communications Officer will support the planning and implementation of the communications and knowledge management strategy of the Climate Finance for Vulnerable Communities in the Asia-Pacific (ICCAP) project, with a strong emphasis on multi-platform digital engagement across the Asia-Pacific region.
The role will focus on maximizing reach through region-specific social networks (including platforms dominant in the six countries of the project: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR), promoting project outputs, and coordinating communications activities among consortium partners. The position will support translating technical research, policy insights and project activities into clear, engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences, including policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, donors and the wider public. The position will work closely with the ICCAP project management team and collaborate with SEI Asia researchers, communications staff and partner organizations.

The ICCAP Communications Officer is accountable for the effective delivery of the ICCAP communications and knowledge management strategy. This includes ensuring all communications outputs meet SEI’s quality standards, donor visibility requirements, and project milestones. The officer is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and impact of digital content, consortium coordination, and event communications, and for monitoring performance against communications KPIs. The officer will be supervised by SEI Asia’s Head of Communications and work closely with the ICCAP Project Manager and project team to achieve the deliverables.
The position has the authority to manage and update SEI-ICCAP digital platforms (website, social media) within SEI-approved brand and content guidelines; to coordinate communications inputs from consortium partners; to liaise with external vendors (e.g. designers, translators) within the approved or delegated budget limits; and to approve routine communications materials (social media posts, newsletters, event pages) in line with the approved SEI and ICCAP communications strategies. Any major strategic shifts, media engagement, or budget deviations require clearance from the SEI Asia Head of Communications.
You are a dynamic communications professional in international development, climate, or sustainable finance communications. You have a proven ability to translate technical research and policy insights through producing and publishing accessible, engaging content (both written and multimedia) for diverse Asia-Pacific audiences. You are comfortable working across multiple digital platforms including region-specific channels like WeChat and skilled in short-form video, analytics, and content management. You thrive in a multicultural, collaborative environment, possess strong coordination skills, and are equally effective working independently and as part of a multi-country consortium team.
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies, development studies, environmental studies, or a related field.
