In-Country Director Job Application

 

We are hiring a contractor position to help oversee Courts for Kids projects in Southeast Asia.   On the third page is a detailed description of the job.  If interested, return this completed document with a resume to info@courtsforkids.org by October 31, 2026.  Start date for position is flexible:  February 1, 2027 – July 1, 2027.

 

Description of Organization:

Courts for Kids is a US-based NGO, which has been in existence since 2007.  We have partnered with approximately 300 communities throughout the world to build multi-use athletic courts.  Each of our projects is a collaborative effort with a community in the developing world and a volunteer team from another country who both contribute to the project financially and with labor.  It is important to us that the communities have ownership in the project, a vision for its purpose, and are committed to maintaining and sustaining it.  It is equally important that the visiting team comes with a strong work ethic, humility, flexibility and an eagerness to learn from a new culture.

 

Description of Contract Position:

We are hiring for this contract position to help oversee specific projects in Southeast Asia.  This contract is from February 1, 2027 (start date flexible through July 1, 2027)- August 31, 2029, and will automatically end on August 31, 2029 unless Courts for Kids offers an extension.  This person needs to be strong administratively and detail-oriented, as well as great relationally as they will be a representative of Courts for Kids both to the partner communities and the US team.  This person needs to live in a location conducive to traveling throughout the region.  The primary tasks of the contract position will be as follows:

  1. Networking and marketing with community partners to find a minimum of 5 viable court project sites annually.
  2. Communicating regularly with the community partner and CFK staff with progress, ensuring all details for a successful project are completed.  (The community partner will be arranging details, you will be overseeing the progress and providing detailed reporting).
  3. Travel 2-3 times prior to the project to ensure quality control, meeting with the contractor, community partners and any other major stakeholders for the project.
  4. Networking with other project partners (cement companies, regional government authorities, e.g.) who can assist with projects on a regional basis. 
  5. Serve as Trip Leader for each project, which involves but is not limited to:
    • Hosting the team from airport arrival through departure
    • Facilitating construction details and all trip logistics
    • Facilitating team reflections and discussions
    • Managing safety and health issues
  6. Follow through with receipting, financials, blogs, pictures and all assigned tasks to close out each project.
  7. Work with other CFK staff on collaborative projects and assignments. 
  8. Participate in any required CFK training
  9. Meet virtually with US staff on a regular basis.
  10. Provide pictures, videos, quotes for CFK social media updates as needed.

 

Compensation:

This is a contracted position with payment of $1,900 per month plus a monthly stipend of $100 per month to be used for phone and internet for a total of $2,000 per month.  Travel expenses for site visits will be reimbursed. You will be covered under an insurance policy to be determined.

 

Other qualifications:

  1. Lived in Southeast Asia for at least two years (preferred)
  2. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  3. Experience with volunteering and/or cultural exchanges (preferred)
  4. Proficient with technology such as social media, Google docs, Microsoft, and WhatsApp (required)
