Project Manager (Local Recruitment)

IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, is seeking a qualified individual to join our Thailand Country Programme Unit.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The position will be responsible for managing and implementing designated projects of the IUCN Thailand Programme by following standard project life cycles from inception, implementation and delivery, to completion and closure using generally-accepted project management standards.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

1. Manage project activities of the Community-based Integrated Coastal and Marine Resources Management Project in Bang Son, Chumphon Province, according to the project work plan.

 

This involves a participatory process to:

• Develop a knowledge base and capacity for integrated coastal and marine resources management in Patiew Bay;

• Develop a long-term plan for integrated coastal and marine resources management in Patiew Bay; and

• Implement pilot activities to support the implementation of the long-term plan.

 

2. Work closely with the IUCN Thailand team, the partners and local community to implement project activities.

 

3. Manage and develop relationship with private sector partner.

 

4. Ensure efficient communication, reporting and financial management of the project activities.

 

5. Coordinate and support activities of other projects in Thailand in close collaboration with the IUCN Thailand team.

 

6. Develop and manage networks, and attend meetings and workshops related to the Country Programme while at the same time, scan for potential engagement opportunities and partnerships for IUCN.

 

7. Ensure effective communication and engagement with stakeholders in keeping informed of project activities, progress and any potential deviations to the project scope.

 

8. Identify and manage risks that might affect every stage of the project plan and recommend mitigating measures when required.

 

9. Ensure accountability for performance and budget management.

 

10. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Country Representative.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

• University Degree in a relevant field of study including Project Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Marine and Coastal Sciences. Advanced University Degree an advantage.

 

• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management preferably in environmental management or coastal and marine resources management.

 

• Experience in building and maintaining relationships/networks with stakeholders

 

• Knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation

 

• Good track record of project performance management

 

• Proven ability to cope with varied workloads, tight deadlines, and flexible working hours

 

• Excellent command of English and Thai languages

 

• Computer literacy
