Research, Media and Communications Team

 

Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting women from Asia Pacific countries, with relevant experience and skills to apply for positions within our Research, Media and Communications team.

 

APWLD is a regional network of women's organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to women’s rights and feminist movements. APWLD’s members are drawn from 25 countries and the secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

 

The successful applicants will work within a small team to coordinate APWLD’s research and communications strategies. She will work with programme staff to develop content for publications and for our website, manage our on-line and social media communications and undertake research tasks. She will play a leading role in developing campaign tools and messaging. 

 

Selection Criteria

 

Essential

 

Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific

Degree in social sciences, communications or journalism;

Minimum of three years experience in communications / research;

Excellent command of English language, both oral and written; proven ability in writing, editing and publishing a range of materials for a variety of target audiences;

Knowledge of campaigning for social justice, particularly women’s rights and economic justice;

Experience managing on-line communications using content management systems and implementing social media strategies;

Experience developing advocacy materials and drafting press releases, statements and submissions;

Experience drafting annual reports and donor reports;

Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to network and liaise in a multi-cultural environment

 

Desirable

Experience with basic HTML, database integration,

Video production

 

 

Remuneration

 

Remuneration depends on experience. We anticipate hiring one person at Associate level (starting salary Salary range commences at THB 27,600 for an Associate and THB 51,750 per month for an Officer). Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; a 13th month salary, annual increments, housing and relocation allowances for staff residing outside of Thailand.

 

The contract may be for 2 years (renewable depending on funds), with a probationary period of four months.

Admin and Liaison Associate.

 

The successful applicant will work within a team to ensure APWLD, as a regional network based in Thailand, complies with necessary legal and immigration requirements.   She will liaise with Thai authorities, with service providers and provide administrative and settlement support to the Secretariat.  

 

Selection Criteria

Essential

A degree in social sciences, women’s studies or a related technical field;

Minimum of two years of admin or relevant experience;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Thai languages and demonstrated ability to draft official documents;

Knowledge of operating standard office equipment, including proficiency in MS office;

Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with government officials, members and other stakeholders.

 

Desirable

Familiarity with Thai regulations relating to non-governmental organisation (NGO);

Experience working at a regional NGO office in Thailand;

Interest in women’s rights and development.

 

Remuneration

Starting salary range commences at THB 27,600 per month.  Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; a 13th month salary and annual increments.  Additional housing and relocation allowances will be provide if the successful candidate is required to relocate to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
