TREAT Asia-Therapeutics, Research, Education, and AIDS Training in Asia-is a network of clinics, hospitals, research institutions and community organizations working to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS treatments throughout Asia and the Pacific. TREAT Asia is searching for the following to be based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Project Manager, Adult Research

 

The Project Manager is based in TREAT Asia’s Bangkok office and primarily reports to the Director of Research who oversees all TREAT Asia research, education and training activities.  Additional supervision would be provided by the Director, TREAT Asia, as appropriate. 

 

The Project Manager assists the Director of Research and Director, TREAT Asia to coordinate and manage TREAT Asia’s research projects and collaborates with other Project Managers, as appropriate, to support research, education, and community activities.

 

The primary function of the Project Manager will be to implement, manage, and monitor the conduct of TREAT Asia’s hepatitis C-related co-infection research among adults with HIV.

 

The Project Manager will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of new TREAT Asia adult research projects, with an emphasis on hepatitis C-HIV co-infection.

 

In these functions, the Project Manager will work with other TREAT Asia staff to communicate with study clinical sites, the data management center, ministries of health, government agencies, hospitals, community organizations, as appropriate. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

Research management

Working with research teams to follow and support the implementation of research projects.  Sets research projects goals, identify potential strategies for achieving goals, prioritize and allocate resources, schedule program activities, and supports adherence to activity time lines.

Coordinating the development and implementation of study protocols, project operating procedures, data collection and management tools, adverse event monitoring and reporting, as appropriate. 

Working with research sites on the procurement, use and quality control management of products used in studies (e.g., medicines, laboratory test kits).

Conducting site visits to grantees to evaluate and address issues related to study implementation, including local human and technical resources, facilities, and research capacity.

Assisting in the preparation and submission of study-related abstracts and manuscripts.

Maintaining both electronic and paper files in the TREAT Asia office on research management-related activities and events.

Serving as a moderator/facilitator at on-site and off-site research program activities and events as needed.

 

Research development, resource mobilization and management

Assisting in the development and implementation of new TREAT Asia adult research projects, with an emphasis on hepatitis C-HIV co-infection.

Assisting in preparation of high-quality grant proposals and requests for continued funding.

Working with the Director of Research and grants management staff to ensure compliance with research-related grant requirements, including monitoring of research-related grant spending.

Working with the Director of Research and grants management staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors on the program’s research activities, including the preparation of progress and financial reports.

 

General program management and support

Supervising assigned study staff.

Collaborating with other TREAT Asia and amfAR staff in New York to ensure smooth coordination of activities, promote public awareness and enhance visibility of the TREAT Asia program, and contribute to TREAT Asia communications materials. 

Working with grants management, finance and accounting, and the broader research team to develop and monitor annual research project budgets.

Developing professional relationships with other research organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders working on issues relevant to the mission of the program.

Working with the Director of Research, and other TREAT Asia project management staff to help integrate TREAT Asia research, education, and community programmatic activities.

Working on other or special projects that may be assigned by the Director or Director of Research.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum five years-experience working in the HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and/or related public health management field.  Medical training (e.g., MD, RN, PA) preferable.  Experience working in HIV/AIDS clinical research desired, including knowledge of treatment and care issues and clinical trials.  Knowledge of public health and HIV/AIDS policy issues a plus.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skill, as well as public speaking ability.  Excellent written and spoken English and Thai language skills.  Knowledge of an additional Asian language a plus. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Regional and international travel (up to 25%) required.
