Position/Title: Communications and Outreach Manager
USAID Wildlife Asia Activity
The USAID Wildlife Asia Activity seeks to significantly reduce wildlife crime in Southeast Asia and China by employing a comprehensive regional cooperation approach. Specifically Wildlife Asia will (i) Reduce consumer demand for wildlife and wildlife products in target areas; (ii) Strengthen regional law enformedment capacity and coordination; (iii) Increase commitment to addressing counter wildlife trafficking (CWT); and, (iv) Support the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia’s (RDMA’s) regional coordination of CWT stakeholders and efforts to strengthen the US Government (USG) interagency CWT initiatives. The USAID Wildlife Asia Activity’s geographic scope includes all ASEAN countries, with a focus on the Lower Mekong (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia) and China.
Role
The Communications and Outreach Manager will provide leadership in all aspects of communications, outreach.
Responsibilitie
The Communications and Outreach Manager shall be responsible for supporting the following activities:
- Provide leadership and establish guidance on document formats, including branding and marking in accordance with USAID policies.
- Ensure project communications and branding guidelines and best practices are followed by Consortium members.
- Edit and format technical reports, contract deliverables, and promotional materials, ensuring clear and concise English language usage and professional presentation.
- Prepare and update the Social Media Plan for inclusion in annual work plan.
- Prepare and maintain a daily communications calendar.
- Prepare quarterly and annual report submissions relating to communications and outreach.
- Prepare requests for review and approval by USAID within the required notice period.
- Write press releases, project summaries, fact sheets, social media posts and other communications materials to highlight project successes and challenges.
- Work with administrative staff to coordinate media events, preparing relevant materials and promotional materials to advance project initiatives.
- Support technical activities related to social behavior change communications campaigns with communications and social media outreach.
- Draft success stories according to USAID guidelines.
- With direction from the Chief of Party, liaises with the USAID Development, Outreach, and Communications (DOC) staff on all project branding and marking requirements.
- Serve as the principal project photographer and provides training to staff in effective photography.
- Support and document intentional and strategic learning initiatives, designed to further expand the understanding of CWT in the target areas.
Reporting
The Communications and Outreach Manager will report to the Chief of Party.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in journalism, social marketing, and/or advertising
- USAID project communications experience strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing communications plans.
- Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong photographic skills preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, able to meet deadlines and produce quality documents.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Powerpoint, Publisher).
- South East Asia experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
