About Soi Dog Foundation: 

Soi Dog Foundation is the largest animal welfare organisation in Asia dedicated to helping stray dogs and cats. Soi Dog Foundation sterilises, vaccinates, administers medical treatment, shelters, promotes adoption of stray dogs and cats in Thailand, and runs education programmes on animal welfare. Soi Dog Foundation is also actively working to end South East Asia’s dog meat trade, and is expanding within South East Asia, having recently opened an operation in Vietnam.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Job Title and Summary:Under supervision of the Soi Dog Foundation Board members,the Education Coordinator is responsible for establish a comprehensive *Animal Welfare Education Program in primary schools in Phuket municipality and expand to include more schools and teachers, multiplying the impact to ensure that school teachers who participate make lifelong compassionate choices, demonstrate strong ethics, and become responsible citizens, improving the welfare of animals in the long term. The Education Coordinator is to plan, organize and ensure that Animal Welfare Education curriculum encompasses all aspects of animal welfare beginning with foundation principles and integrated well into the school curriculum and/or learning activities throughout the academic year, in order to optimally influence students’ lifelong behaviors and actions.

*Animal Welfare Education Program:

Animal Welfare Education Program cultivates empathy and kindness for both humans and animals by educating teachers to understand the suffering of other individuals. It helps teachers to further educate their children to understand the motives behind their choices and the ramifications of their actions on others, instills a sense of responsibility to make compassionate choices and help others, and empowers them to improve their communities and the environment. By fostering strong ethics and altruism at an early age which will remain with children through their lives, humane education produces responsible and caring members of society.

 

Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Oversees and is ultimately responsible for the daily activities and operations for the Animal Welfare Education Programs.
  • Plans, customizes, implements, and coordinates Animal Welfare Education Programs to maintain program compliance with federal standards, laws, and local grant goals and objectives.
  • Develops contacts with school administrators, teachers, and the government’s education department, to gain approval to conduct Animal Welfare Education Programs in schools.
  • Forms working groups with school teachers to produce culturally relevant educational activities and resources that can be apply simply and easily within the parameters of each school and community.
  • Creates workshop materials for teacher participants and ensure the content is allied to the program’s goals, culturally relevant and will optimally engage teachers to the understanding.
  • Organizes workshops for teacher participants, trains and motivates the teachers to successfully and creatively carry out the programs.
  • Provides counsel, assistance, and supports the school administrators, teachers, and the government’s education department in areas of Animal Welfare Education Programs planning and management.
  • Reviews and assess, makes decision and identifies possible solutions for problems and makes recommendations for teacher participants, schools administration and the government’s education department in areas of Animal Welfare Education Programs.
  • Makes routine visits to each school member for an observation.
  • Interacts and communicate with other departments, co-workers, staff, to seek expertise and support for implementing the programs activities and workshop.
  • Performs record keeping and internal and external reporting tasks in a timely and objective fashion. Prepares and submits accurate monthly reports and annual reports to immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for auditing all files, claims, paperwork from the education programs and activities; to ensure complete compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
  • Contribute to and participate in organization/department strategic planning, program assessment, community assessment, and other efforts to improve program services and responsiveness to teacher participants and communities. Assist in planning and implementing changes in the program.
  • Develops, monitors and evaluates progress on program goals and objectives; reporting progress on action plan.
  • Responsible for development, oversight, and monitoring of educational budget line items and the training/workshop budget.
  • Attends various meetings, workshops, and conferences to maintain professional development; continued growth.
  • Provides guidance and direction to assigned education staff, evaluates performance, assesses, and secures training opportunities and resources for staff development
  • Promotes positive public relations; maintains on-going relationships with local school personnel and others. May serves on local activities to create trust and expand the networks.

Department and Supervisor: This position is report to Soi Dog Foundation Board members.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Thai nationalities ONLY.
  • Hold at least Bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Resources, Humanity, Communications or related field
  • Three to five years work related experience that relevant to training and development, project management, supervision or management; or any equivalent of training and education
  • Good command of English, analytical skills and computer literate
  • Good knowledge of skills/competency development, training management and supervision.
  • Ability to be an instructor and workshop facilitator is a must
  • Strong in communication and presentation skills, project planning and resources management
  • Strong leadership, high maturity, service minded and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, independent, well-organized and dedicated
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally to attend to daily work demands, conduct workshops, meetings, and conferences.
  • Environmental Adaptability, ability to work effectively in and off office/school environment.

Location: 167/9 Moo 4 T.Maikhao, A. Thalang, Phuket.  15 minutes drive from Phuket International.
