Job Advertisement: Advocacy Specialist
for Plan Asia’s Stopping Exploitation through Accessible Services (SEAS of Change) project
Plan is an international humanitarian, child-centered development organization, implementing development programs that promote the realization and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty.
Position: Advocacy Specialist of SEAS of Change Project
Assignment duration: One year contract with likely extension
Duty station: Bangkok
JOB BACKGROUND: Plan Asia’s SEAS of Change Project is a multinational initiative between Plan Cambodia, Thailand, Sweden, Finland and Plan Asia Regional Office to address the issues related to exploitation, abuses, violations, hazardous work and limited access to social services and education faced by migrant workers and their children. The project aims at contributing to a fishing industry that is free from hazardous exploitative child labor and offer decent work opportunities for all, particularly migrant populations.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the implementation of the project’s advocacy activities; Identify, establish, maintain and promote strong partnership with business, governmental NGOs and relevant organizations; Promote coalition of like-minded organisations e.g. INGOs, UN agencies, government, civil society and community organization around the issues in the project’s advocacy agenda; Represent SEAS project in existing coalitions of those like-minded organizations to carry out advocacy works; Monitor and maintain the progress log and assist in preparing the project’s progress and financial report and ensure timely submission.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Social Work, Political Sciences, Development or related field; minimum three years’ experience in implementing policy advocacy activities ,Understanding of Project Management cycle; English skills; Excellent interpersonal communications skills and able to demonstrate respect for people with diverse ethnicities and different socio-economic backgrounds and beliefs; experience in working with NGOs will be advantage.
