Roles Summary & Job Description

Outreach and Selection (O&S) works with pre-applicants serving as the first point of contact for potential participants and partner organizations throughout the world. The International Outreach and Recruitment Specialist develops and coordinates the implementation of the outreach and recruitment strategy for a designated world region, providing subject matter expertise to a wide array of stakeholders on IIE’s portfolio of outreach activities and country-specific educational systems

Essential Functions		% of Time
1	Interacts with institutions of higher education, scholarly associations and, as needed, other external constituencies, including vendors, consultants, and contractors, to professionally represent IIE.  Develops and maintains key relationships with partners. Recruits and serves as direct point of contact for potential applicants interested in a variety of programs.	50%
2	Accountable for outreach and recruitment strategy implementation within the assigned countries or geographic region. Oversees the coordination and implementation of outreach and recruitment activities for program(s) including the development and dissemination of appropriately branded outreach materials, accurate recordkeeping and metrics, and reporting.	20%
3	In consultation with stakeholders, develops a targeted annual outreach and recruitment strategy for program(s) within the assigned world region.	10%
4	Serves as a subject matter expert on educational systems within the designated world region; advises partners and clients on country-specific recruitment and admissions-related considerations.	10%
5	Drafts and reviews program reports.	5%
6	Represents world region in designing and introducing new initiatives and leading special/technical projects.	5%

• Interactions/ Types of Contacts: Regularly interacts with team members both within and outside of their department, as well as clients, participants, and partners in carrying out their work assignments.
• Interactions/ Purpose of Contact: Exchanges functional/technical information to aid in management decision making as an integral part of carrying out work assignments. Interactions with others are primarily advisory in nature. 
• Focus of Work: Work focuses primarily on accomplishing the business goals and objectives of a department.
• People Management: Accountable for providing work guidance and technical advising to others. May train and explain IIE processes, systems and internal/external knowledge.
• Work Requirements/ Formal Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
• Work Requirements/ Work Experience: Requires at least five years of related work experience.
• Knowledge: Requires an in-depth application of a specialized body of knowledge and is considered an authority or SME in their field within the organization.  At this level of competency, a team member applies in-depth knowledge to enhance and identify new directions of IIE programs, policies, services and systems.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of secondary and higher educational systems within the designated world region and the United States. 
• Significant experience in an outreach and recruitment role. Must exhibit maturity and be comfortable in a client-centered team, and demonstrated ability to use diplomacy in difficult situations.
• Ability to prioritize under time constraints and pressures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking and presentation skills
• Superior writing and editing skills and a thorough knowledge of the English language.  Abilities in a language relevant to the designated world region strongly preferred
• Creativity and ability to suggest innovative yet practical solutions to new challenges.
• Able to work as a team player- contributes to the team as well as handles tasks assigned by more than one supervisor.
• Knowledge of customer relationship management and database software.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook and applicable outreach and recruitment mediums.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Many essential functions are performed in a general office setting with low noise. Job demands may require long periods of sitting; telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other team members and external stakeholders.
