Context:

Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer, Labour Migration in Bangkok, and the overall supervision of Head of Labour Mobility and Human Development Unit in Bangkok, the successful candidate will coordinate the implementation of labour migration projects, including in partnership with the private sector to promote ethical recruitment and combat labour exploitation of migrant workers.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Particularly, he/she will carry out the following duties:

 

  1. Provide specialized support in the planning and implementation of project activities in Thailand, and coordination and monitoring of activities implemented in other project countries with particular focus on labour supply chain mappings, event organization, training delivery to businesses and labour recruiters, pre-departure and post-arrival orientation and services for migrant workers and other relevant activities.

 

  1. Monitor the implementation of activities in line with agreed project documents, timelines, indicators, results and other project requirements and propose adjustments as necessary.

 

  1. Record, compile, analyze and summarize relevant research data, information and findings as well as keep track of labour migration trends in Thailand and other project countries, with the focus on ethical recruitment and the role of businesses in tackling labour exploitation of migrant workers.

 

  1. Coordinate logistical and administrative arrangements to support implementation of various project activities, such as meetings, workshops or trainings.

 

  1. Draft meeting/training reports, periodic donor reports, interim and final project reports.

 

  1. Assist in monitoring progress of project activities by preparing and verifying work plans, progress reports, annual and financial reports, and other data for clarity consistency.

 

  1. Support liaison with national and international project counterparts as necessary, including businesses and business associations, civil society organizations, and relevant government authorities.

 

  1. Assist in drafting and dissemination of internal and external knowledge and information materials based on the evidence generated by IOM Thailand in the field of labour migration.

 

  1. Support with informal translations of project-related documents from English to Thai and vice versa.

 

  1. Assist in developing communications and promotional products and materials, in line with the communications strategy of the LHD Unit at IOM Thailand, and in alignment with IOM global communication strategies and materials.

 

  1. Participate in meetings, conferences and other events, as necessary and in close coordination with the supervisor.

 

  1. Provide technical and backstopping support to various teams in the mission.

 

  1. Perform any other such duties as may be required.

 

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

  • University Degree in economics, management, sociology or relevant field
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience working on labour migration, international labour recruitment and corporate sustainability and compliance programmes or related areas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Ability to work in a multi‐cultural environment and respect diversity
  • Sound knowledge of programme implementation and evaluation and familiarity with financial and business administration
  • Team work oriented but with a capacity to work independently
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Computer literate

 

Languages

 

Fluent in English and Thai. Knowledge of Cambodia, Lao, and Myanmar languages will be considered a significant advantage.
