Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok & Chiang Mai. BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,500 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek protects endangered children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

Dao Ethical Gifts* is a fundraising project featuring customizable and unique products, handmade by marginalized women with locally sourced materials, as an alternative to traditional corporate gifts. Through Dao Womens Empowerment Program, vulnerable women are empowered through emotional support, extra income, and skill-based trainings. 100% of profits from Dao Ethical Gifts support Baan Dek Foundation's programs.

 

* Dao is currently in a process of applying for a Social Enterprise status, since the corresponding law had just passed early this year in Thailand.

Responsibilities of the advertised position:


Dao Ethical Gifts mission is to support Baan Dek Foundations fundraising sustainability through corporate gifts that give back.

This position will work within the Dao Ethical Gifts team at Baan Dek Foundation, under the direct supervision of Dao Ethical Gifts Program Manager and Daos Founder in Bangkok. The main responsibilities of this role will include the following

Roles and responsibilities included - but are not restricted to:

Production

  • Update the Management team on order status
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with womens sewing groups
  • Purchase needed materials from vendors, and bring to producers
  • Do quality control of products at each stage of production and pay producers
  • Pack orders and ship to Bangkok and overseas
  • Communicate with the design team and producers to manage prototypes for new orders
  • Edit cost of production for new and existing products, update pricelist as necessary
  • Design new products, according to interest and demand
  • Outsource local materials for products, update vendor list
  • Conduct site visits and interpret Thai to English for visiting donors
  • Maintain stock lists for inventory

 

Marketing and Communication

  • Support the Communication team with facilitating and following up orders at print shop
  • Present DAO Ethical Gifts at fairs and events
  • Conduct site visits with potential donors
  • Attend social enterprise meetings, and conferences to work on obtaining legal social enterprise status

Activities

  • Provide core trainings at office and at construction campsites/slums to beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate with other organizations to facilitate trainings/activities for beneficiaries
  • Purchase needed materials for trainings
  • Distribute materials for trainings to communities
  • Collect monitoring and evaluation data

 

 

Required Skills

  • Highly motivated to bring innovative solutions, to lead and create social impact
  • MS Office, Excel (able to comfortably update spreadsheets)
  • Drivers license for car or motorbike preferred

 

Nationality: Thai (Or any legal resident of Thailand. We are unable to provide a visa and work permit for this role)

Languages: Fluent Thai, spoken and written English

Qualifications: Business project management or sales experience. Experience with social businesses, fashion or product design, or rural community development is an asset.

Strong social commitment, with a positive attitude and passion for locally-led projects.

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and creative as well as flexible and independent in their work ethic.

Working hours: Full time Monday Friday with occasional weekend + evenings.

Salary: Starting 15,000 THB (to be defined based on work experience and qualifications)
