Summary

Tetra Tech (Nasdaq: TTEK) is dedicated to improving the energy sector of developing economies. We are recruiting for a Short-Term Energy Event Expert (Expert) to support our Bangkok, Thailand-based Southeast Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) Hub Project to support with planning and logistics for the Asian Development Bank’s 2022 Virtual Asia Clean Energy Forum. The Expert shall serve in a Short-Term Technical Assistance (STTA) capacity and report to the Program Manager, working in close coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID/RDMA) and the Asian Development Bank. The candidate should have demonstrable experience and background in the energy sector (particularly power, renewable energy, and electric utilities) knowledge of key energy sector stakeholders (including the private sector) across Southeast Asia, and sufficient familiarity with USAID practices and operations.

 

Energy Event Expert Position Description/Scope of Work

 

Under this Short-Term Technical Assistance (STTA), the Southeast Asia EDGE Energy Event Expert (Expert), with their understanding of relevant USAID activities and the energy sector, shall support USAID’s planning, engagement, and implementation for the 2022 Virtual Asia Clean Energy Forum (V-ACEF). This role will take place over a period of approximately 4 months (March – July 2022) and require a part-time level of effort (up to 20 hours per week) throughout that time. The Expert’s time shall be charged to CLIN 002 of the USAID Southeast Asia EDGE Hub Contract.

 

Hosted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines, this annual event brings together clean energy professionals, financiers, and technology providers to discuss trends, technologies, and challenges associated with the expansion of clean energy in the region. USAID is a co-organizer of this event and facilitates the participation of numerous personnel representing USAID-funded activities and policies. The Expert, in conjunction with the Southeast Asia EDGE Hub team, shall serve as the lead individual to support USAID engagement in V-ACEF 2022, scheduled for June 14-17, 2022. The Expert shall work closely with USAID/RDMA and the ADB to identify key themes and topics to showcase at the event and identify USAID staff/partners/resources that can be highlighted under each theme. Throughout this process, close coordination with USAID/India and USAID/Washington, DC will be critical, as well as with USAID bilateral missions and implementing partners operating across Southeast Asia. The Expert shall identify suitable topics for Deep Dive Workshops, Spotlight Sessions, and Side Events and lead the planning, coordination, and execution process. The Expert shall support the preparation of materials for use by senior USAID staff in plenary technical sessions, and side event sessions, including, but not limited to, session abstracts, briefing materials, presentations, and talking points. At the conclusion of the event, the Expert shall participate in the follow up and reporting processes, including responding to inquiries from attendees, gathering data on participation, report writing, and lessons learned documentation.

 

The Expert shall also undertake additional tasks assigned by the Southeast Asia EDGE Hub Program Manager in line with requests received from USAID/RDMA and other USAID bilateral missions throughout the Southeast Asia region.

 

Throughout the STTA, the Expert shall work closely with the Southeast Asia EDGE Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager, as well as key USAID/RDMA staff. The Expert shall report to the Southeast Asia EDGE Hub Program Manager.


 

Location and Period of Performance:

 

The Energy Event Expert will be based in Southeast Asia. No relocation expenses will be provided.

 

The anticipated period of performance for this STTA is approximately March 15, 2022 – July 15, 2022. The selected individual will be expected to work up to 20-hours per week during that period.

 

Work Experience and Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • extensive familiarity with USAID energy programming and activities in the Southeast Asia region;

  • past attendance/engagement with the Asia Clean Energy Forum is preferred;

  • experience in the preparation and implementation of international events, with senior level participation;

  • a sound understanding of clean energy technologies and the challenges associated with their deployment across Southeast Asia;

  • experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders in the energy sector;

  • Fluency in English, with strong interpersonal and communications skills;

  • project/program management experience delivering projects on schedule and within budget that meet client requirements and expectations for scope and quality; and

  • the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and respond to deadlines, often with limited lead-time.
