Background/IRC Summary:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces 

 

Job Overview/Summary:  

The driver is assigned to achieve safe transportation and effective vehicle maintenance including support service in timely manner in compliance with IRC Thailand’s guiding principles and rules and regulations.

 

Major Responsibilities:

1. To ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations (vehicle policy etc.,)

2. Respect of the Thai traffic rules, the safety orders, the travel schedules, and IRC policies

3. To ensure the efficient condition and readiness for use of vehicle as well as its maintenance on daily basis in compliance with IRC Thailand’s procedure

4. To enact safe driving practices at all times for all IRC Staff and visitors

 

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a driver for IRC staff and visitors in a timely manner, in strict adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices

2. Perform regular vehicle checks according to IRC Thailand’s procedure

3. Keep vehicle clean and check vehicle’s condition every time before and after each journey

4. Ensure all vehicle documentation, camp passes etc., are in vehicle before each journey

5. Complete vehicle log sheets after each journey

6. To take care of vehicle’s using license annually

7. To transport documents, materials or other items to appropriate destinations as requested by supervisor

8. Assist with minor repairs to vehicles and/or IRC office as required

9. Able to work in the weekend and out of work time to support influx activities and emergency needs

10. Assist team with loading and unloading items used for the project

11. To perform other duties as assigned  

 

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to:  Logistics Officer

Technical Oversight/ Support by: Senior Driver

Technical Oversight/ Support to: Programs staff, Operations staff, and Visitors

 

Job Requirements:

Education

• At least certificate of Primary education (M.3) with official driving license

 

Work Experience and/or Demonstrated Abilities       

• At least 3 years’ experience in off road driving

• Ability to work well under pressure

• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance

 

Skills  

• Strong coordination and communication with staff during providing transport assistance

• Service mind

• Flexible and Openminded

• Good decision making

• Team Player

 

Certificates or Licenses: Driving License

 

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Mae Sot District, Tak Province with extensive travel to others field site.
