Duty Station: BANGKOK (Home based)

Duration: 5 June– 11 August 2023

 

Job Purpose:  

The project aims to support and empower civil society, with a particular focus on women and youth. Civic space is Repressed in Bangladesh and Thailand and Obstructed in Nepal (CIVICUS). The genuine engagement of often excluded youth/women groups empowers civil society to play a key role in democratic policy implementation at all levels. This, as well as their advocacy and ability to hold duty bearers to account, improves compliance with human rights policies/law. This project intends to strengthen an enabling environment for youth/women-led civil society participation and engagement. It aims to facilitate CSOs and youth networks as independent actors who hold their governments to account, and to amplify the outcomes they seek in their societies. The OVOC Consortium is a partnership between Plan International, Article 19, the Feminist Dalit Organisation (FEDO), Phayao Youth News Agency (PYNA), and Thailand Youth Institute (TYI).

 

Responsibilities

Mainly Support for activity 1.3.4.1: Co-organise youth exchanges with international youth networks. the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting research in the areas of human rights for the youth in Thailand, Nepal and  Bangladesh and advocacy trends on social media such as Tiktok, Facebook, Youtube.
  • Assisting during conferences and meetings.
  • Assisting in research, drafting and preparing supporting documents.
  • Assisting with information management and database population.
  • Participate “OVOC activities” or be part of OVOC Youth member.

  •  Communication: Ability to draft clearly and concisely, good written and oral language skills.
  •  Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different national and cultural backgrounds to achieve organizational goals.
  •  Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be 'clients' and seeks to see things from clients' point of view. The intern is expected to:
  •  Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of Plan Asia and the Pacific and a personalcommitment to the ideals of Plan International.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Education

To qualify for an internship with PLAN (Asia and Pacific office), the following conditions must be met:

  •  Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); (c) Subject to review on a case-by-case basis, applicants within a few years from graduation who could not apply earlier and who are in an early stage of their careers; as a first time entry into the workforce; are changing careers or due to compelling family circumstances.
  •  Applicants who have graduated (as defined in (a) or (b) above), if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  •  Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.

 

Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for PLAN (Asia and Pacific office). Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit PLAN (Asia and Pacific office),  during your internship.

Languages

English and Thai are the working languages of PLAN (Asia and Pacific office). Basic knowledge of written English is required for the Internship Programme.

 

Special Notice

REMOTE INTERNSHIPS (COVID-19): In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may be requested to undertake the internship remotely in Bangkok and access office in Bangkok when required. Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship/ remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.
