Classification              :  Hourly (THB 120 per hour)

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

1.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. IOM began its operations in Thailand in 1975, assisting the resettlement of Indo-Chinese refugees to countries offering them permanent residence. With the Kingdom of Thailand joining IOM as a member state in 1986, the organization’s cooperation with the Royal Thai Government has expanded to cover all aspects of migration affecting the Kingdom and its neighbours, including labour migration, migration health, counter-trafficking, emergency and post crisis, institution building, border management, security and law enforcement.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team at IOM Thailand monitors and evaluates programs and initiatives using various surveys and assessments to improve accountability and effectiveness. Through analysis of IOM's intervention impacts, the M&E team identifies areas of improvement, addressing specific challenges and vulnerabilities encountered by migrant communities and improve overall programming.

Under the direct supervision of the M&E officer, the successful candidate will implement M&E data collection in Tak Province in Thailand.

 

2.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide support to data collection operations such as Post Distribution Monitoring, Distribution Monitoring using pre-designed survey tools (for tablet or phone) at the assigned and selected assessment location in the province.
  • Perform other, ad-hoc data collection activities as may be required.
  • Provide daily updates to the M&E officer on the progress of the data collection.
  • Regularly share observations on the context in which the data was collected, including any challenges and lessons learned, with the supervisor.
  • Provide necessary support to M&E officer during data cleaning processes.
  • Assist with facilitating outreach to local authorities and community members when requested by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (PSEA) and ensure mainstreaming of PSEA in flow monitoring operations.
  • Perform such duties and travels as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.

 

3.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

  • Should be literate in Burmese and English.

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in collecting data and/or any other work with local NGO or CBO;
  • Experience in the use of KOBO

SKILLS

  • A good knowledge about area of interest;
  • Capacity to work independently;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility;
  • Solid understanding of data protection protocols;
  • Solid understanding of the norms of professional ethnics;
  • Commitment to the Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (PSEA);
  • Knowledge of Burmese and/or English will be considered a significant advantage.

 

4.LANGUAGES

  • For all applicants, fluency in Burmese and English are required (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of Thai, Karen, and Shan is an advantage.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighboring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighboring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
