Classification : General Service (G-3, THB 49,198.25 per month)
Type of Appointment : One Year Fixed-Term Contract

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Since the inception of IOM in 1951, Movement Operations have been and continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Organization’s work. The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of the Organization and a cornerstone of IOM’s operations. This mandate has resulted in the international transport of more than 15 million migrants and refugees worldwide. Movement Operations departments in various IOM missions, coordinated under the division of Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) in the Department of Operations and Emergencies (DOE) at IOM’s Geneva Headquarters, are responsible for all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s auspices, in accordance with the various framework agreements with resettlement and receiving Governments and partners across the spectrum of the Organization's programmes.
Under the general supervision of the Movement Operations Manager and the direct supervision of the National Associate Movement Operations Officer (Movements and Data Processing), the Operations Airport Clerk is responsible for undertaking movement operations activities in the field, with the following duties and responsibilities.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform a pre-departure orientation session (in-flight orientation and or in-hotel orientation) for refugees who are travelling under IOM auspices at the IOM transit hotel or at the Bangkok airport.
- Perform airport services, such as verifying identities and documentation, including exit permissions, visas, tickets and other items in the travel bag; check-in, luggage formalities, escorting arriving individuals to ground transportation; ensuring individuals with special needs or equipment receive appropriate support.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the resettlement and movement activities.
- Assist in operational activities related to the smooth running of the Resettlement Programmes at the airport and places of transit.
- Meet and assist migrants in transit, arrange for their accommodation when required, and facilitate their smooth departure.
- Distribute food and non-food items as needed before departure; maintain the IOM airport warehouse; provide proper and updated stocklist.
- Send out Departure Notifications to counterparts.
- Serve as an intermediary, when necessary, between refugees and airlines, airport security or authorities to ensure humane treatment of refugees.
- Report any unusual incidents to the supervisor for further follow-up.
- Maintain and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of all relevant paperwork in line with standards of conduct and data protection rules, alert the Senior Operations Assistant (Team Leader) or management of any non-compliance to SOPs or codes of conduct by IOM staff members or partners and follow up as necessary for compliance and reporting.
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma with at least three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- University degree from an accredited academic institution with at least one year of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
EXPERIENCE
- Prior Movement Operations or transportation experience is a strong advantage.
SKILLS
- Strong computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet.
4. LANGUAGES
- Fluency in Thai and English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of Burmese or other language spoken by minority groups from Myanmar is desirable.
