RELATIONS AND CAREER MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION

 

THE MISSION 

The RCM is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of the school's mission to secure quality internship and job opportunities for HCTC students and alumni. The role is to build up and maintain a network of key professionals and institutional partners in Thailand (employers, ASSET members, key stakeholders such as visiting donors and partners), secure internship and job opportunities and coordinate directly with the employer during the implementation/logistical phase. In addition, coordinates the Alumni network (alumni events, career workshops, alumni communication channels, job integration surveys). 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for securing internships and jobs for HCTC students.
  • Responsible for the career orientation preparation of students to ensure personal and professional readiness before the internship placement. This includes the teaching of Work Life for first and second-year students. 
  • Accountable for identifying key new partners and maintaining positive and strong relationships between partners, enhancing events and workshops with the industry (visits to the school, workshops to students, study trips, etc.
  • Responsible for doing the follow-up of students during internship phases, including visits to students and the workplace, regular calls and meetings, and evaluation trackers.
  • Accountable for securing 100% of jobs for future graduates every year.
  • Accountable for building and coordinating the alumni network, alumni events, career workshops and monthly surveys.
  • Events planning and coordination, acting as a public relation of the school.
  • Support the Education team in the main programs of the school: recruitment, teaching & learning, and school activities.

 

MAIN DUTIES

1. Team management and Education Team

  • Act as part of the management committee and be part of the decision-making for the project.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the managers' meeting every week.
  • Be part of the staff recruitment process and disciplinary sessions when needed.
  • Assist the dorm and education team when needed to contribute to a positive team environment, as this role is part of the Education team of HCTC.

 

2.​​​​​​​Career Orientation

  • Teaching “Career Orientation/Work Life”: Prepare, and implement the planning of workshops and training to ensure students are well prepared before their internship both in soft and technical skills (money management, time management, career choices, communication at the workplace, etc)
  • Arrange career fairs at convenience to ensure quality exposure before the internships (visit hotels in town, bring inspirational referents for a talk, etc). This involves partners visit, alumni workshops for current students, etc.
  • Plan, lead and evaluate the Study Trip to Bangkok to discover the industry for a 3-day trip with all students; in charge of all the logistics/budget needed for the project.  

 

3. Internship placements

  • Be fully in charge of internship preparation (resumes, training and awareness preparation before departures).
  • Contact and develop the professional network locally and nationally (hoteliers, restaurants, outlets, retail).
  • Outline new internship partners and evaluate the quality of the training according to specific criteria - with the support of the Director.
  • Find internship and job placements for all the students (arrange interviews, ensure hoteliers acknowledge the internship agreement and sign it before departure).
  • Ensure medical checks before the departure of the students.
  • Prepare the budget and monitor the expenses with the support of the technical assistant.
  • Ensure logistics and accommodation renting.
  • Liaise with the accountant monthly for internship allowance transfers.
  • Refresh the internship follow-up monitoring framework (safeguarding, training quality, student welfare).
  • Ensure a close follow-up with each intern and hotelier (according to a specific monitoring framework).

 

4. Partners and communication

  • Be part of the representation of the school by developing positive relationships with school and social business partners (regular follow-up, communication events or successful stories, etc).
  • Organise and assist in event planning and coordination arranging visits to schools and workshops from the HCTC partners to be delivered to the students, when partners and visitors come to the school.

 

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in a relevant field of expertise (Career Orientation, Communications, Education, Social worker, HR in the Hospitality sector, etc..).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work between an NGO and a corporate environment.
  • Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders in the corporate environment (Director of HR, Hotel Managers, Restaurant managers, Chefs, etc...).
  • Strong and reliable project management skills and logistical planning skills.
  • Honesty and transparency.
  • English language: Fluent
  • Thai language: Fluent

 

CONTRACT CONDITIONS

  • Local contract with full-time position and salary according to experience (range between 20K-24K THB)
  • 12 days of annual leave + 6 bank holidays + 1 week for New Year and 2 weeks for Songkran.
  • Medical insurance and 1 medical check a year.
  • 1 Meal a day during working days.
  • New year’s bonus, % depending on the organisation's capacity
  • Under the supervision of: the Director of the Hospitality and Catering Training Center (HCTC)and School Programme Manager (SPM)
  • Starting date and duration: May 2024 for 2 years minimum, with possible extension.
