Background/IRC Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces. IRC Thailand launched the Preparedness for Protection in Southeast Asia (PPSEA) in July 2021, which was partially implemented in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. The project aims to strengthen the protection response capacities of local disaster preparedness ecosystems and enhance protection risk reduction activities, including violence prevention at a community level. In partnership with the Thailand Association of Social Worker (TASW), this project focuses to support capacity and coordination among local authorities and the communities to prepare and respond to the protection needs of the communities and marginalize people in the deep south provinces of Thailand.
Job Overview/Summary: With the supervision of the Senior Protection Project Officer, the driver is assigned to achieve safe transportation and effective vehicle maintenance including support service in a timely manner in compliance with IRC Thailand’s guiding principles and rules, and regulations. The driver under the PPSEA project will travel frequently in the three southern border provinces and Songkhla province to support the IRC staff in implementing the project activities.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Serve as a driver for IRC staff and visitors in a timely and efficient manner, in strict adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices.
2. Respect Thai traffic rules, safety orders, travel schedules, and IRC policies.
3. Ensure the efficient condition and readiness for the use of a vehicle as well as its maintenance on a daily basis in compliance with IRC Thailand’s procedure.
4. Keep the vehicle clean and check the vehicle’s condition every time before and after each journey.
5. Ensure all needed vehicle documentation is in the vehicle before each journey.
6. Complete vehicle log sheets after each journey.
7. Transport documents, materials, or other items to appropriate destinations as requested by the supervisor and project team members.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Education:
• At least a certificate from high school level (M.3)
Work Experience:
• At least 3 years experience in off-road driving
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance
• Strong knowledge of road safety and traffic laws.
• Strong coordination and communication with staff during providing transport assistance.
• Service mind
• Team Player
Language Skills:
• Thai and Pattani Malayu languages are essential.
• English will be a benefit.
Certificates or Licenses:
• Must possess a Thai driving license.
• Other training certificates relating to safety and security, road safety, and driving courses will be a benefit.
Working Environment:
The driver should be living in one of the project locations including, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. All the project staff of the PPSEA project is mostly working from home with extensive frequent travel to the project locations. The team will closely work online from home for the preparation of project activities. However, the driver will base in Pattani to stand by and support the staff who are in the project locations for daily basis work and ad hoc meetings or missions.
