  1. Background

Established in 2007 and headquartered in Bangkok, APCOM is a regional civil society coalition and network that advocates for better health outcomes and human rights protections for SOGIESC communities across the Asia-Pacific region. APCOM combines advocacy, technical support, resource mobilisation, grant making and capacity strengthening for community-based organisations (CBOs) in over 30 countries and territories. APCOM just published its new strategy RELENTLESS 2025-2030 in which the organisation outlines its plans and priorities for the coming years. To strengthen its marketing and communications team, APCOM is looking for a Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, who will be leading on diversifying the resource mobilisation for the organisation and develop compelling narratives about APCOM´s work and impact in the region.

 

 

  1. Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the position include:

      Design/ write creative and imaginative (and cost effective) marketing strategies for APCOM´s products including events, trainings, consultancies, reports and others.

      Ensure marketing strategies and plans are implemented and delivered on time and to budget.

      Manage and supervise APCOM’s Marketing and Communications Unit and staff in the Unit

      Secure sponsorship for APCOM´s flagship events, including the HERO Awards Gala, the LGBTQI Biz Forum, APCOM´s Community Summit, TestBKK and the Thailand Pride Festival.

      Develop other income avenues for the organisation in the form of resource mobilisation campaigns and merchandise.

      Develop compelling stories around APCOM´s brand, work and impact to support the marketing and resource mobilisation efforts.

      Work closely with the programme´s staff to ensure marketing and communications receives appropriate and timely inputs for the marketing and communications efforts.

      Champion and use research and data analysis to develop marketing and communications strategies and plans and determine the indicators for success.

      Evaluate the marketing and communications strategies, plans and activities and deliver performance reports timely to the executive director and management team.

      Act as a leader next to the executive director for media and PR/communications, providing direction and leadership on media relations and PR activity.

      Write and proofread copy (online, press releases, magazines, brochures, leaflets)

      Organise and attends events such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions and represent the organisation

      Identify opportunities and help APCOM´s marketing and communications team to learn and grow.

      Liaise and network with a range of stakeholders including community organisations, activists, donors, sponsors and allies.

      Any other tasks and responsibilities as indicated and assigned by the executive director or management.

 

 

 

  1. Qualifications and skills

 

Education and work experience

Required

      At least a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.

      Evidence of continued professional development in marketing or communications (trainings, courses etc.) for a minimum of 3-5 years.

      Demonstrable skills and experience in design and implementation of marketing and communications plans.

      Excellent verbal and written communication skills for Thai and English.

      Proven record of securing funds from the private and/or public sector and/or HNIs, and/or the general public.

 

Desirable

      Work experience in an NGO environment, preferably closely related to APCOM´s vision and mission.

      Demonstrable skills and experience in digital marketing.

      Demonstrable skills and experience in public relations and communications.

      An interest in social marketing and behaviour change.

      Line management experience is desirable.
