Handicap International that runs its program under the operating name Humanity & Inclusion (HI) seeks for 2 Rehabilitation Project Officer for Thailand site. Based office is in Mae Sot with regular travel to work in camps.

PROJECT HISTORY
In Thailand, Handicap International, now operating under the name of Humanity & Inclusion (HI) started working in 1984 and first focused its actions on the delivery of mobility and assistive devices to Burmese landmine/ERW victims as a response to the influx from Myanmar. HI currently implements activities for Burmese refugees along the Thailand/Myanmar border under three thematic areas: Rehabilitation and Disability and Social Inclusion (DSI) including inclusive early child development (Growing Together), and Mine Risk Education (MRE). As from 2016, Thailand projects are framed in the Myanmar and Thailand Regional program.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
HI implements 4 projects in Thailand along the Thai-Burma border:
a) Landmine/ERW Risk Education (MRE) in 9 camps,
b) Disability and Social Inclusion in 3 camps in Tak province and 2 camps in Mae Hong Son province (Sob Moei /SM District),
c) Inclusive early child development (Growing Together) in 3 camps in Tak province and 4 camps in Mae Hong Son province,
d) Rehabilitation project in 3 camps in Tak province and 2 camps in Mae Hong Son province (Sob Moei /SM District), funded by EU Aid of Uprooted People (AUP) and UNHCR. The Rehabilitation project is implemented through provision of physiotherapy and occupational services, prosthetics and assistive devices production and, early detection by training the medical staff.
The strategy for Thailand site aims at working alongside refugees with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. All projects are managed by the designated manager who is supervised by the Operational Coordinator. Technical Advisors at Headquarters and Regional levels also provide support on the approaches to be implemented. HI wishes to put strong emphasis on monitoring, impact and lessons learned in order to assess projects’ achievements and outcomes and, to improve the methodologies and approaches implemented through the different projects.
OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
The Rehabilitation Project Officer (PO), under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Project Manager (Rehab. PM) and in coordination with the Rehabilitation technical officers (RTOs), is responsible for implementing and supervising rehabilitation activities in Mae La, Umpiem, Nupo, Mae La Oon and Mae Ra Ma Luang camps.
He/she will support the Rehabilitation Project Manager in ensuring a smooth running of the Rehabilitation project in its different dimensions: planning, implementation & monitoring of activities, budget follow up (management is under project manager responsibility), supervision rehabilitation camp staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION: REHABILITATION PROJECT OFFICER
Under direct supervision of the Rehabilitation Project Manager (PM), the PO ensures the following tasks;
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan, monitor and supervise the rehabilitation camp-based staff implementing rehabilitation activities.

2. Support the Rehabilitation Technical officers (RTOs) to empower, build capacity, coach HI camp based staff (CBS) , community staff and health worker for other agencies for Rehabilitation activities.

3. Ensure communication, networking and coordination at field level for Rehabilitation activities

Qualifications required: Thai citizen,
Education: University Degree in general management/admin. or social development, health science or a related area
Experiences: At least 1 year working experience in project implementation, people management and coordinating with stake holders. Experience of working effectively with camp based organizations (CBOs) & Non-governmental Organization (NGO), along the Thai-Myanmar border
Technical Skills & Cross Cutting Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results
Good leadership skills with capacity to share knowledge with others, Good team player.
Comprehensive knowledge on rehabilitation/disability/ inclusion would be an advantage.
Proficiency in computer & basic program using and emails
Language skills: Very good in Thai, Karen or Burmese is a must. Good in English is an advantage.
Behavioral Skills: Active listening, Sense of negotiation, Ability to create team spirit and to support team building, Self-initiative, Intellectual flexibility, Adaptation skills, Autonomy in work, Experience in accompanying a team and finding practical solutions
Job Conditions:
Local work contract, fixed duration contract (potential to be extended)
Remuneration: Starting from 24,645Baht depending on the experience of the candidate.
