Baan Dek Foundation is currently looking for a professional and dedicated Field Program Officer who will commit to contributing to the overall goals of Baan Dek Foundation and implement project activities directly with children and families in the field.

 

The employee will work under direct supervision of the Program Managers in Bangkok.

 

Role and responsibilities include - but are not restricted to:

 

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION, MONITORING and REPORTING

  • Prepare, coordinate and implement field activities such as awareness sessions, life skills sessions or sports sessions with children and families in the communities;
  • Design, research and develop content knowledge (such as life skills content on child protection, safe migration, immunizations, waste management, etc.) and implement activities dedicated to improving beneficiaries' awareness and knowledge in line with the needs of the beneficiaries;
  • Support teachers in the implementation of non-formal education activities;
  • Complete quantitative and qualitative monitoring data following BDF monitoring and evaluation systems;
  • Support the communication of information on beneficiaries within the team and with the authorized partners (within the frame of BDF’s Child Protection Policy);
  • Contribute to the development of the overall monitoring and evaluation system;
  • Draft and send weekly report to the Management Team;
  • Attend weekly team meetings and meetings with partners;  
  • Support in terms of administrative/legal matters related to the project; and
  • Support team training regarding the content knowledge and activities that have been developed and are to be implemented in the communities.

 

 

SOCIAL WORK

  • Outreach new communities in need of critical support to access essential services;
  • Support social workers in completing in-depth community-level needs assessments;
  • Support enrolment of children in school by removing barriers to enrolment such as transportation, school fees, uniform costs, translation of documents, etc.;
  • Support children’s access to vaccines, including educating adults in the community to improve awareness about vaccinations, as well as how to obtain health cards to access overall healthcare;
  • Identify relevant local stakeholders (schools, medical centers, social services, etc.); and
  • Refer to local safety, health and education services as needed.

 

 

RESEARCH and COMPLEMENTARY SUPPORT

  • Support in collecting primary data collection at the Thai borders, around Chiang Mai and potentially other areas (support may include language interpretation);
  • Conduct focus groups and individual interviews with children and caregivers, as well as in-depth interviews with other stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain local partnerships with government agencies and non-profit organizations who serve or support our target population;
  • Actively engage in and contribute to forums or meetings with academics, government officials or NGOs in Thai and English, and build upon our existing advocacy work; and
  • Translate monitoring tools, SOPs, qualitative data, etc. from Thai to English and vica versa.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Nationality: Thai Nationals

 

Language: Native Thai, fluent spoken and written English (knowledge of Thai-Yai, Burmese or Khmer considered an asset).

 

Education: Degree or equivalent in a relevant field (research coordination/social work/social development/political science/international development/etc.)

 

Experience:

  • Experience as a social worker or experience related to development or social work
  • Experience as a project coordinator or research coordinator considered an asset
  • Experience in interviewing, counselling or case management considered an asset
  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector will also be strongly considered

Working hours:  Full time - Monday to Friday (flexible schedule) and occasionally on weekends

Salary: 20,000 THB+ (to be defined based on experience and qualifications). Staff benefits include transportation and phone allowance, etc.
