Summary

Tetra Tech (Nasdaq: TTEK) is dedicated to improving the energy sector of developing economies. We are recruiting for a part-time Copy Editor to support our Bangkok, Thailand-based Southeast Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) Hub Project to provide part-time editing and formatting support to the project team. This individual will play a key role in managing the Tetra Tech brand, ensuring deliverables that represent the company are professional, polished and client-ready. The individual will edit in a manner that is consistent with internal and/or client style guidelines and may be called upon to rewrite heavily technical content to clarify complex concepts for a non-technical audience. As such, top-notch time management and organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are paramount. This position shall report to the Program Manager.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Edit technical content and, as needed, rewrite to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

  • Provide editing support to project team, including writing and editing project descriptions, success stories, fact sheets, newsletters, technical reports, semi-annual performance reports, and presentations.

  • Review assigned content and edit for grammar, punctuation, logic, clarity, tone and consistency.

  • Ensure style and format conform to in-house style guidelines and/or those prescribed by the client. Apply requirements of multiple style guides as appropriate for each document.

  • Adapt margins, spacing, tables, boxes and graphical elements to ensure content supports and is consistent with client formatting and branding requirements.

  • Work with project team to revise content for organization and negotiate additional revisions as needed.

  • Perform other editing duties as assigned.

 

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Two to five years of work experience in technical writing and editing.

  • Experience and familiarity with multiple types of editing: proofreading, copyediting and substantive editing.

  • Demonstrated ability to edit a range of technical documents (e.g., internal announcements, reports, proposals, brochures, articles, presentations, blogs, social media).

  • Advanced writing, grammar, editing and formatting skills.

  • Demonstrated ability applying US Agency for International Development (USAID)-required style guidelines (as outlined in the USAID Graphic Standards Manual and Partner Co-Branding Guide and the USAID Style Guide)—as well as those from the AP or Chicago Manual of Style.

  • Demonstrated experience editing content under a deadline.

  • Demonstrated familiarity in driving consistency and unity across multiple content deliverables.

  • Extreme precision and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well with people of different backgrounds, personalities, experience and levels of authority.

  • Excellent multitasking, organization and prioritizing skills.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage internal and external client expectations.


 

Valued but not required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Prior experience editing content on energy sector reform issues, such as utility performance, transaction advisory, policy and regulatory reform, and clean energy advisory services, within the context of international development.

  • Experience writing or editing reports for international donors (e.g., USAID, World Bank, MCC, ADB).

 

Location and Period of Performance:

 

The Expert will be based in Bangkok, Thailand. No relocation expenses will be provided. The ability to work legally in Thailand is a requirement.

 

The period of performance for this contract is April 1, 2021 – March 31, 2022. The selected individual will be expected to work on demand, up to 15 hours per week, during that period. As much advance notice as possible will be given to the individual regarding upcoming schedules and deadlines.

 

Extensions to this contract may be available after March 2022.
