Internship for HEARTS Project
September – November 2023
Background
Save the Children’s HEARTS (Highlighting Equality and Respect Towards all SOGIESC) project aims to ensure that LGBTIQ+ children and youth can enjoy their rights. Through child-participation in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process, Thailand has accepted recommendations specific to children’s SOGIESC rights. To continue these advocacy efforts and monitor the implementation of the government during the UPR mid-term review, it is essential that the children and youth are supported to meaningfully participate. HEARTS project is looking for an intern to support the process of children and youth engagement as well as coalition coordination for UPR mid-term review.
Purpose and scope of this service:
The objective of the internship is to provide coordination and logistical assistance for HEARTS project at Save the Children Thailand. In this process, the intern will gain knowledge of the substantive and operational aspects of Save the Children’s work. After the internship, the intern will gain knowledge on the local and national situation of diverse groups of children and youth, particularly on the rights of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC), as well as legislations and UN human rights monitoring mechanisms. In addition, this assignment will help the intern to deliver activities that promote meaningful children and youth engagement to ensure accountability of the government.
Objectives and Deliverables
Management
The intern will report to SOGIESC and Child Rights Expert and Project Coordinator, with management support from Child Protection and Child Rights Governance Program Coordinator who will provide inputs throughout the internship period.
The intern shall ensure compliance with SCI Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment) Policy, and guideline on child-safe and sensitive participation guideline.
Time frame
The internship will take place from September – November 2023 (approximately 2-3 months, maximum of 48 working days)
Payment
Daily rate of 400.00 baht for each day of work, with maximum of 48 working days. The transportation costs for work trips will be covered by Save the Children Thailand. The intern will be required to fill in the timesheet and submit summary of work progress by the 24th of each month. Payment will be made upon the receipt of an invoice for actual working days.
