LINKAGES is a USAID-funded project managed by FHI 360 aimed at accelerating the Thai HIV/AIDS response to recruit, reach, test, treat and retain populations in HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. The project will focus primarily on MSM and transgender (TG) women. 

LINKAGES Thailand has contracted Dreamlopments Ltd (Dreamlopments) to conduct the ‘Test and Treat HIV and Viral Hepatitis for People Who Use Drugs and Their Partners in Thailand: The C-FREE Study.

Dreamlopments Ltd (DLP) is a Thai-based social enterprise, conductinga large study of community-based testing and treatment of HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) for people who use drugs (PWUD) and their partners, called “C-FREE Study”. The study involves a large consortium of Thai NGOs, research institutes, academic experts, government officials and international partners. The study design includes a cohort study, and an HCV treatment trial for participants with hepatitis C. It takes place in Bangkok, Songhkla and Narathiwat. The research sites include 5 “drop-in-centers” (DIC) run by the local partner NGOs (Ozone Foundation (Ozone) and Raks Thai Foundation (RTF)), and 5 partner hospitals/research centers. Recruitment is ongoing at all DIC study sites.

 

Overview:
 

We are seeking 5 positions of Clinical Research Assistants in FY2020 to assist the study team to implement the C-FREE study project with partners and study participants across 5 drop-in-centers that run by Ozone or RTF (three study sites in Bangkok, one study site in Songkhla and one study site in Narathiwat).

 

The Clinical Research Assistants are under the supervision of the Lead Study Principal Investigator (PI), Director of Research and Advocacy (DRA), Study Coordinator (SC), and Study Nurses (SN) from Dreamlopments. This position is based at the study site and work closely on a daily basis with SN and staff from Ozone and RTF.

Required period: November 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020
 

Type of appointment: Service contract (monthly fixed rate, subject to 3% withholding tax)
 

Key duties and responsibilities:
 

  1. Assists in screening and enrolling participants in the study.
  2. Manages research activity appointments.
  3. Assists in collecting and recording research information in the study-related documents and Case Report Form.
  4. Assists in performing technical duties related to clinical research as directed and under the supervision of other study personnel.
  5. Assists in collecting, processing and shipping potentially biohazardous specimens.
  6. Prepares the referral letter for further diagnosis or treatment according to the national guideline or switching of medical treatment according to the protocol.
  7. Keeps clinic, laboratory equipment and laboratory spaces clean, organized and presentable.
  8. Order, stock and maintain inventory of clinical supplies and laboratory equipment (overseeing maintenance and updates), partnering with suppliers for hardware and software requirements.
  9. Provides travel reimbursement to participants at each study visit.
  10. Tracks site spending and provide regular status updates to the study coordinating center.
  11. Answers phone calls and LINE communication from participants regarding study protocol and scheduling visits.
  12. Assists in study site file maintenance and ensure that all required documents are accounted for and send study-related materials or documents to the study coordinating center.
  13. Maintains communication with the study coordinating center and follow up on tasks/submissions.
  14. Works collaboratively with other study partners.
  15. Performs other administrative duties related to the study as assigned.

Qualification and required competencies:
 

  1. Vocational Education-Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Preferably 2 year-experience in health-related projects.
  3. Experience as a Research Assistant, a plus.
  4. Good computer skills in using Word, Excel and Power Point.
  5. Strong organization skills, good attention to details.
  6. Good human relationship, observable skill and clear communication.
  7. Teamwork-contributing and following team objectives.
