Role overview

Working at project location – In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time.

As a National Volunteer for the Active Citizenship Through Inclusive Volunteering and Empowerment (ACTIVE) project you will be contributing to the development of the ACTIVE project. You will work with the project officer in the VSO team and the PSU Volunteer Center at the Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in Hat Yai, Songkhla, to ensure capacity building and implementation of the Global Standards for Volunteering for Development during its pilot phase in Thailand. Collating and analyze key findings and recommendation for future improvement are among your main tasks.

Ideal Applicant Summary

The ideal candidate has a background in volunteering and community development and 1 to 3 years’ experience in working with an NGO in advocacy, youth engagement and empowerment. You have experience in research and reporting as well as building capacity with local communities. You are willing to travel to remote areas and work at odd hours.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in any field with background work on volunteering and community development would be an asset.
• A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the NGO sector in policy advocacy, youth engagement and empowerment.
• Good understanding of volunteer standards, experience in working with international volunteers, commitment to volunteering for development as VSO’s core development methodology.
• Experience building capacity of local community youth members, organizations or facilitating various workshops.
• Experience undertaking quantitative and qualitative research and assessment exercises; knowledge and experience of using mixed methods will be an advantage.
• Comparative analysis, report-writing, and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent command in written and spoken English.
• Team working, flexible, high achievement, ability to initiate work.
• Willing to travel to remote areas and at odd hours as required. You will be working at the PSU, Hat Yai, Songkhla.
• This a national volunteer role open for Thai nationals.

Allowance
As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. As a national volunteer you will be receiving a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses.

Location
You will be working at Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai, Songkhla. Traveling to remote areas will be part of the role.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a national volunteer role in Thailand. Please note that rIght to work in Thailand is required. We will not be able to obtain visa and work permit to non-Thai nationals.
