Position: Video and Communications Consultant
Purpose of Assignment: Provide communications support to RTI and Thailand’s Division of Vector-Borne Diseases (DVBD)
Assignment: RTI International is implementing Inform Asia: United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID’s) Health Research Program. The goal is to support malaria elimination in Thailand by 2024 and in Lao PDR by 2030 through the following three intermediate results (IRs):
RTI will hire a local consultant or firm to design and implement a multifaceted communications campaign for that highlights Thailand's progress toward elimination of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) malaria-the deadliest type of malaria.
Thailand's Division of Vector Borne Diseases (DVBD) has implemented an increasingly targeted program of interventions to propel the country toward elimination. From fiscal year 2013 through 2021 (FY13-21), Pf infections dropped form 16,494 cases to just 55 cases. Now that Pf elimination is in sight, the consultant will lead a campaign o celebrate this progress with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH).
The consultant will work with RTI and the DVBD to design a range of communication products to target various audiences, culminating in World Malaria Day on April 25, 2022. Proposed products include a press release event, policy infographic, website pop-ups/graphics, social media for Twitter and Facebook, a 30-second video slideshow featuring RTI’s data results, and a 4-minute human interest video. As possible, the consultant will build on Inform Asia’s previous research results and communication products to reduce the production process time for this special campaign on Pf elimination. Final products will be determined in partnership with the DVBD, and the consultant’s final SOW will be adjusted accordingly.
