Malaria Technical Assistance in Thailand: Consultancy (Data Entry Clerk)

Purpose of Assignment: Provide data entry support to the Division of Vector-Borne Disease (DVBD) to expand data availability in its malaria information system (MIS).

Assignment: RTI International is implementing Inform Asia: United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID’s) Health Research Program. The goal is to support malaria elimination in Thailand by 2024 and in Lao PDR by 2030 through the following three intermediate results (IRs):

• Strengthen the malaria surveillance system in Thailand and Lao PDR
• Evaluate strategies and tools for implementation and scale-up for malaria elimination
• Strengthen the capacity of the national malaria programs to generate, analyze, and use strategic information.
• RTI will hire a local consultant to support data entry in Thailand’s MIS, addressing a backlog of laboratory data as a one-time short-time solution.

The consultant will review technical quantitative data in English and Thai compiled by the DVBD’s laboratory team in an Excel file. The consultant will be trained to read and interpret these data and then input these malaria data in corresponding fields in the web-based MIS by matching patient identification numbers. The consultant will confirm accurate data input, in collaboration with DVBD IT and laboratory teams and Inform Asia’s COP, to ensure that all required malaria data are captured in the MIS with limited errors or duplication. This work will accelerate access to essential datasets that Inform Asia will use to inform future malaria elimination programming in Thailand.

Specific work and deliverables:

• Attend kick-off meeting with Inform Asia’s COP and the DVBD’s Laboratory Chief to review data and finalize the project timeline. Attend a mid-term meeting with COP to adjust timeline as needed.
• Input data with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Participate in weekly check-ins with the COP to report progress.
• Inform the COP of any obstacle to implementation or challenges in achieving any of the deliverables so that the COP and consultant can work together to overcome.
• Write narrative progress updates to support quarterly program reporting and other ad hoc reporting requests, as required.
