Program Overview:

Pact exists to help create a world where those who are poor and marginalized exercise their voice, build their own solutions, and take ownership of their future. The USAID-funded Green Invest Asia (GIA) activity aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by catalyzing private finance to upscale and drive investment in the agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) sector toward low-emission yet profitable business models. The Activity supports countries in Southeast Asia to scale-up low-emission land management best practices through the development of a pipeline of investible projects and businesses in the sustainable landscapes sector, increased private sector investments into sustainable, low-emissions land management businesses, and improved capacity of sustainable landscapes stakeholders.

Position Summary:

The Partnerships and Sustainability Manager (PSM) will identify and facilitate the development of private sector partnerships with companies and institutions who align with USAID Green Invest Asia’s mandate and scope In coordination with other relevant staff, s/he will support the development of technical assistance for sustainability strategies and low carbon strategies of multi-national corporations (MNCs) and investors. The PSM will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with potential private-sector partners and working with the technical services team for delivery of technical assistance as appropriate. Duties include:

  • Identify and cultivate high-level relationships with relevant networks, business associations, and potential private sector partners.
  • Review and utilize existing USAID Green Invest Asia relationships with MNCs and companies for scaling of relationships and networking for new partnerships.
  • Plan and execute external engagement strategy, including attending, organizing, and/or contributing to relevant business round tables, conferences, and events at the regional level on subjects relevant to USAID Green Invest Asia.
  • Create contacts and maintain relationships with relevant business communities, project developers, entrepreneurs, and investors in the AFOLU sector.
  • Support activities to enable USAID Green Invest Asia to develop relationships and secure business opportunities for further pipeline development with prospective partners. This may include, but is not limited to, support for the preparation of market research and delivery of presentations in conferences.
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of annual work plans and periodic progress reports and assist with monitoring relevant program indicators and evaluating program results.
  • Proactively populate and leverage Pact’s customer relationship management (CRM) software to track contacts, prospects, engagements and opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively about Pact’s technical capabilities and programmatic assets, leveraging them into new business cases, new business models and new partnerships.  This will require review and packaging of lessons learned from existing service delivery and relationships.
  • Define, test, refine, and execute tailored partnership strategies and lead growth-focused activities, including preparing and submitting concept notes and high-value presentations.
  • Coordinate with advocacy and external communications team members to craft and disseminate key messaging, design marketing collateral, and define and operationalize key communications channels.
  • Supervise an events coordinator/project assistant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to develop partnerships with the private sector.
  • Creativity and flexibility in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment to wisely prioritize and successfully perform multiple and complex tasks.
  • Ability to connect ideas and link learning to generate shared solutions.
  • Sound analytical skills.
  • Ability to sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and external facing entities.

 

Requirements:

  • National of Thailand.
  • Graduate degree (Masters or above) in international relations, business, communications or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or training.
  • 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in the private sector.
  • Experience managing relationships between public and private sector clients. 
  • Proven experience partnering with private-sector actors to meet development-sector needs in the areas of environmental and social sustainability.
  • Strong client relationship management experience.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to communicate with professional fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multi-national team.
  • Ability to work independently and produce timely and high-quality results.
  • Ability to travel to targeted Southeast Asian countries (~20%) (pending lifting of COVID 19 travel restrictions).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with private sector investment, preferably in sustainable landscapes and/or agriculture.
  • Work experience and/or technical knowledge in the agriculture, agri-business or forestry sector, carbon finance, sustainable sourcing, and/or climate change preferred.
  • Familiarity with current work and practices on sustainable sourcing and/or meeting sustainability goals for corporate entity.
  • Experience working in the Asia region and with donor-funded, preferably USAID, contracts and/or cooperative agreements.
  • Proficiency working with SalesForce or similar CRM systems.
