The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a new part-time Finance Coordinator for the Thailand office.

You are a master organizer who is excited about building order out of chaos and enjoys the thought of a well-structured spreadsheet. If it were possible to medal inexactitude, you would be a world champion. Not only are you great at the details, but you also understand how small tasks can be essential to big, audacious goals like alleviating poverty.

You are resourceful and when you see a problem, you jump at the chance to fix it. Your initial instinct when developing a new process is to make it as effective and accurate as possible. You love the idea that your organizational and financial management skills could contribute to a better livelihood for entrepreneurs.

Job Responsibilities

Day to day work involves a variety of tasks from financial bookkeeping to ensuring grant and other policy compliance in payment processing. Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries. Specific responsibilities include:

• Maintain ANDE-internal project-related records, including contracts, invoices, and receipts.
• Collect and document all employee receipts and review employee expense reports prior to submission for payment, ensuring compliance with travel policies and grant requirements.
• Serve as the point person to submit requests for payment to local host and authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts.
• Review employee travel advances, expense reports, timesheets, and general expenses.
• Maintain ANDE-internal vendor payment trackers and outstanding account payables.
• Ensure all expenses are allocated to correct funding sources in ANDE-internal documentation.
• Serve as the point person to manage project bank accounts, request payments from local host.
• Input transactions into monthly ANDE-internal excel based financial tracking database, allocating expenses across a variety of funding sources and reconciling with local host records and bank accounts.
• Prepare ANDE-internal grant-related invoices and sub-recipient reporting templates.
• Investigate variances and submit reports to management.
• The work routine involves flexible hours to enable communications with our international staff, particularly our Finance Department in our Washington, D.C. headquarters. A remote work structure is a possibility.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role:

• Has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2-4 years’ experience in an accounting role
• Extensive experience with financial record keeping, budgets, accounts payable procedures, and resolving variances
• Outstanding Excel skills
• Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM database management preferred
• Is highly detailed oriented, organized, and able to remain focused in the face of multiple competing priorities
• Is a team player and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the entrepreneur's development sector
• The position is based in Thailand. All applicants must have current authorization to work in Thailand
• Applicants must speak/write in Thai and English with ease
• Experience studying or working with an international organization highly preferred

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty.

Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises over 290 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries. Members of ANDE include both for and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions, foundations, and corporations from around the world. Based in Washington, D.C. with eight offices in emerging markets, the ANDE team works hard to support members globally, and locally, while building strong ecosystems for entrepreneurial growth. ANDE develops unique initiatives to address systemic challenges and seize opportunities that can only be approached through collective action.
