We are recruiting for a Gender Advisor to be based in Bangkok, Thailand to support the implementation of the USAID-administered Water Energy for Food Asia Regional Innovation Hub (WE4F-Asia-RIH) from July 2020 to July 2024. Position Responsibilities:
Implement of the RIH’s Gender Strategy and support the entire implementation team on integration of gender consideration into all RIH interventions in support of innovators and other activities. Interventions are aimed to improve the likelihood that women are beneficiaries of WE4F nexus solutions, increasing employment opportunities for women throughout the WE4F nexus value chain and attracting private and commercial finance for women-owned, women-led, and gender-inclusive WE4F business models, and improving WE4F innovators’ ability to leverage gender lens funds
Provide on-demand technical assistance to innovators in integrating gender into market research, product development and deployment, human resources and other business operations
Promote and document the business case for WE4F innovators targeting women consumers and integrating gender equality
Support WE4F innovators’ ability to identify and market to female customers
Encourage and facilitate the inclusion of gender considerations in WE4F nexus policies and regulations that address barriers to women’s access and create opportunities for women’s employment throughout the WE4F nexus value chain
Promote women’s participation in the formulation of WE4F nexus policies and regulations as well as in key government WE4F nexus bodies
Coordinate with and support innovator interaction with existing gender-equality focused programs and funding mechanisms led by governments and donors in the region
Engage and share learnings with relevant WE4F Founding Partner programs in S/SE Asia
Share relevant resources and develop internal guidance for the implementing team on gender-related issues on an ongoing basis
Advise screening and selection of innovators as potential grantees based on considerations for gender integration
Create and update knowledge management products on innovators’ experiences with gender integration
Review and support implementation of innovator acceleration work plans, especially gender-centric market segment research
Coordinate gender integration activities with the RIH Project Management, Technical Assistance, Brokering and Enabling Environment Units
Provide guidance to the Country Coordinators on engaging local innovators on gender topics
Support the procurement of grantees and local technical assistance vendors
Support the development of knowledge products, collection of performance indicator data and preparation of communication pieces
Support the development of contractual deliverables and any other reporting
Perform other relevant duties as assigned
Essential KSA’s Required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):
A graduate degree in international development, gender studies or related field is required
10+ years’ experience in S/SE Asia in designing, implementing and advising gender equality interventions for SMEs, utilities, and government bodies
Experience in working with USAID and other large international donors
Experience in coordinating with multilateral donor programs in emerging markets
Strong oral and written communications skills and ability to motivate and collaborate with others to achieve team goals and communicate with WE4F awardees.
Fluency in English (reading, writing and presentation skills)
Experience in holding public meetings and coordinating with local governments, legal experts, developers, special interest groups and the public to formulate and develop plans for vulnerable populations
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Prior working experience in S/SE Asia
Valued but not required KSA’s:
Experience working on integration gender into the development of technologies or working with business start-ups targeting low-income or Base of the Pyramid customers
Familiarity with the impact investing industry
Understanding of enabling environment activities for a conducive private sector-driven ecosystem
