Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. With funding provided by the European Union for the project “Health and WASH services, Return preparedness and Capacity Strengthening for Refugees in the Thai –Myanmar Border Temporary Shelters”, our office located in Mae Sariang, is looking for efficient, motivated and experienced individuals interested in applying for a short-term position as Midwife Trainer.

Midwife Trainer (1 position)

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Contract Duration: 4 months

Work locations: Mae Sariang, Sob Moei District (Mae La Ma Luang and Mae La Oon Temporary shelters)

Salary Range: 28K – 30K + benefits (salary level will be set based on relevant experience, academic qualification, and medical specialization)

Main Responsibilities/Duties

1. Review existing relevant training curriculum and methodology as required.

2. In collaboration with relevant supervisor, revise training documents, materials, and tools and handouts.

3. Prepare and conduct periodical evaluation of the trainees at the beginning and end of each module and properly record those results

4. Prepare and conduct final examination, both theory and practical to assess the midwifery skills of the trainees.

5. Set-up Clinical Skills Competency Assessment and Student Clinical Skills Assessment Checklist with close monitoring through the practical period.

6. In collaboration with DFOC, prepare and submit periodical training report, indicating budget spent, training achievement and needs as well as a final report including assessment of each student with strength and weaknesses to be monitored during practical training.

7. Handing-over all results and recommendation to Supervisor for practical training, including detailed observations on trainees.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

1. Nurse/Midwife Degree holder with previous training experience

2. Experience of working with refugees is an asset

3. Strong teaching, training and proven supervision skills

4. Computer literacy, being able to use Word, Excel, and Power Point programs

5. Well organized and detailed in planning

6. Good command of English and fluent in either Burmese or Karen language
