The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is an international non-governmental organization working globally to protect the people and the planet.
EJF is working in Thailand to end illegal fishing and human rights abuses on fishing vessels and actively promote improvements to policy-making, corporate governance and management of fisheries and coastal areas. In July 2020, we launched the 'Net Free Seas' project, a community-based solution to collect discarding fishing nets from Thailand’s coastlines and ghost nets from the sea to prevent them from harming marine environments.
We are looking for a new community coordinator to join the Net Free Seas project. This position will involve engaging with local fishing communities recycling companies, and frontline Thai government agencies to deliver key project objectives including: researching new fishing communities to become part of the project, engaging with community members and local leaders to facilitate understanding and participation, as well as coordinating the retrieval and subsequent collection of discarded / waste fishing nets.
Successful candidates should be comfortable working independently, be confident in public speaking, have access to a vehicle, and be prepared to travel within Thailand.
