Cuttlefish Digital is a start-up digital communications agency focused on developing and delivering targeted digital campaigns to clients focusing on climate action and energy transition in the Asia Pacific region. As part of a global network of more than 160 communicators, researchers, marketers, and advocacy strategists, we partner with some of Asia’s most influential advocacy organisations to campaign for clean energy.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an exceptional writer and editor to manage content for our key website properties.

​

As part of this role you will:

• Set the tone, style, and editorial direction of our website properties

• Write, edit, and publish articles, blog posts, and landing page content to publication standard on websites, in email newsletter, and on social channels

• Commission content from and manage freelance writers

• Oversee the editorial processes to ensure quality and accuracy from creation to publishing

• Plan and set week-to-week editorial priorities with network colleagues

• Work with the SEO specialist to optimise written content for search engines

• Work with the insights analyst to track content performance against agreed KPIs

• Work with campaigners to develop compelling messaging to support climate and energy campaigns in Asia

• Manage translators from time to time.

This role reports directly to the Director of Cuttlefish Digital. It's a new role with a growing team, so there’s plenty of scope to make this your own from the ground up.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 5-8 years experience as a professional writer or editor

• Experience managing freelance writers and paid contributors.

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, as part of a fully distributed global network.

• An understanding of how the media influences action on climate and energy policy.

• Experience writing for finance, energy, and climate publications would be an advantage.

• Existing contacts with freelance writers and contributors would be an advantage.

• Experience working across multiple projects on competing deadlines.

• Knowledge of SEO, paid digital marketing, lead generation, and email marketing would be an advantage.

Candidates must have excellent written skills in English. Knowledge of one or more in Bengali, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, or Vietnamese would be an advantage.

DATES OF CONSULTANCY

This is a 12-month fixed term contract (including a 3 month probationary period), with a possibility of extension, contingent on funding.
