Duty Station : Bangkok, Thailand

Classification: General Service Staff (G6,THB 90,432.33 per month)

Type of Appointment : Special Short-Term Contract,

6 months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

  1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

 

Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer (CREST), and under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer (CREST) in Bangkok, and the technical guidance of the National Private Sector Engagement Officer (IOM Philippines), the incumbent will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support related to the implementation of capacity building activities on ethical recruitment for different supply chain actors in global supply chains.

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  1. Assume the role of IOM Thailand’s focal point for capacity building activities for suppliers in Thailand of global brands.

 

  1. Train suppliers in Thailand of global brands to develop and implement due diligence on ethical recruitment.

 

  1. Develop training plans on ethical recruitment due diligence for Thai suppliers and Thai recruitment agencies in global supply chains, and lead the coordination of logistical arrangements for each training session.

 

  1. Tailor training materials for supply chain actors in different industries.

 

  1. Coordinate with focal points in IOM Philippines for the translation of the training materials and project materials into Thai.

 

  1. Facilitate the translation of due diligence tools and proofread translated tools to ensure alignment with the original version of the tools.

 

  1. Maintain supplier database and consolidate participants’ feedback for each training session.

 

  1. Assess the practices of suppliers and recruitment agencies against the international standards on ethical recruitment and provide recommendations for improvement.

  2. Monitor supplier progress and provide technical support in addressing the challenges raised by suppliers and recruitment agencies.

 

  1. Draft regular progress reports, project updates, talking points, and briefing materials related to supplier capacity building and private sector engagement as needed.

 

  1. Provide support in developing ethical recruitment due diligence tools for employers of migrant workers and the recruitment agencies that they work with.

 

  1. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

  1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Sciences, Law, Sustainability, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of relevant professional experience

 

  • Solid experience in training programme development.

 

  • Demonstrated success in supplier capacity building and in facilitating training sessions.

 

  • At least four years of experience in assessing companies against international standards on labour and human rights or related areas.

 

  • Experience in Code of Conduct audits or management system-based audits as a certified and trained auditor is preferred.

 

  • Experience in assessing companies in different industries is a strong asset.

 

  • Experience in monitoring improvement plan status and progress from labour and human rights assessments.

 

  • Experience in drafting regular status and progress report.

 

  • Experience working with Government counterparts, UN agencies and/or non-governmental organizations is considered an asset.

 

  • Certification in one or more of the following: ISO 9001, SA 8000, IRCA, or proof of successful completion of other social compliance training course is a strong asset.

 

  • Strong knowledge of ethical trading practices, management systems on labour rights and due diligence on responsible business conduct.

 

  • Strong knowledge of labour migration and supply chains transparency and management.

 

  • Knowledge of Thailand and industry risks related to labour and human rights.

 

  • Strong quantitative business analysis skills, attention to detail, and high level of accuracy.

 

  • Intermediate or basic-intermediate excel skills.

 

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

  • Teamwork oriented but with a capacity to work independently.

 

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and respect diversity

Required: English and Thai (Fluent)
