Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as Project Driver.

Work locations: Mae Sariang and Sob Moei Districts.

Duration: 10 months with potential for extension

Salary range: 15,000 (+benefits)

Main Responsibilities/Duties

Drive Malteser International vehicles, transporting staff and material safely to destinations as per schedule and instructions.
Ensure regular and thorough cleaning and maintenance of vehicle to ensure good and safe driving condition.
Pre-departure safety checks (oil, breaks, lights and suspension) completed for vehicle.
Ensure proper functioning of safety equipment/features as well as the existence, re-stocking, and maintenance of first aid equipment and other tools.
Ensure all passengers use seatbelt and are seated or located properly in the car before driving.
Report and ensure fixing of any safety concerns related to the vehicle.
Undertake medical evacuation(s) and referral service transport for patients to Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai hospitals or elsewhere as required.
Follow COVID-19 prevention measures when transporting passengers, especially C-19 positive cases, if required.
Complete all documentation requirements applicable to drivers for use of vehicle (use of permissions to transport materials and patients, logbook, waybills and similar).
Always assist in loading and unloading of goods between cars and storage at origin or at destination.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

Thai nationality with completed high-school (grade 9)
Proven experience of professionally driving pick-up trucks both on highways and rural (mountain) roads in all seasons.
Previous experience with, and ability to use, 4-wheel drive vehicles.

Basic vehicle mechanical skills (engine, brakes and suspension).
“Safety First” approach while driving with highest sense of safety for passenger and cargo.
Valid driving license for car
Excellent interpersonal skills, service-minded and helpful
Good Sgaw Karen language skills and fluency in Thai.
